Do you ever see learning opportunities in everyday experiences and notice lessons in unexpected places.I think of my Zumba practice as my religion, my meditation and my workout - so I think about it a lot.. And I realized, I’ve learned some pretty valuable life lessons that have nothing to do with dancing.. Or music.
I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say Zumba changed my life. It sounds funny but Zumba class is basically a spiritual experience for me. It’s when I get some of my best ideas, it’s when I get clarity. I think moving my body is helpful and keeps me young. And as I think back over how I’ve changed and what I believe now, I see so many realizations I learned or became aware of either during my workout or because of it.
Here are the top 5 lessons I’ve learned so far from Zumba: http://bexb.org/zumba/
Do you know how you want to feel most of the time?
Or, the first question should be: Do you know how you do feel most of the time right now?
So take a moment, clear your mind and answer this question: how do you feel most of the time?
Now ask yourself - based on whatever answer you gave, is that how you would like to feel?
Even though this seems obvious, in the past few years, I’ve realized I’m the one who gets to decide how I feel so I can be intentional about the feelings I want.
Isn't that crazy? I was going through life assuming my feelings were just happening directly to me -that feelings just happened as a result of circumstances and that’s just how it was.. So hopefully there were good circumstances so I’d have good feelings (but it only occasionally worked out that way).
Now that I’m living a more intentional, aware life, I know that I have a choice about how I will feel (or try to feel) most of the time, and through lots of mind-wandering, and writing, and thinking, and noticing, I’ve decided on 3 main feelings I want to feel.
Right now, I’m drawn to these 3 emotions but I’m figuring out how I can remind myself of these feelings during my day-to-day.
These feelings are Engaged, Inspired, Delighted.

Maybe you’re feeling listless or bored with your life. Maybe you’re trying to figure out what your purpose is or what you can be passionate about. Or maybe you just want to know what you should do with your life.
It’s possible, that at times, fear and anxiety make it hard for you to show up, to take action, and even to consider taking action. Maybe you find yourself doing things to escape, or check out from your current reality.
I get it. I know I spent a significant number of years in a fog of self-doubt and supposed societal expectations. I was living my life on auto pilot and often going with the default option because I didn’t even consider there was a choice. Can you relate?
Have you heard that the best way to learn is to teach? so here’s what I want to learn in 2020: This is the year I want to learn to understand and master RESISTANCE. I want to learn how to recognize when my own resistance is holding me back. I want to see that resistance for what it really is - fear, or insecurity, or a protective instinct that maybe doesn’t serve me. And, I want to learn to release my resistance!
What will you hear about? You’ll hear about the concepts and people that changed my life. These are ideas, thoughts and practices I’ve been trying out that are just too good not to share.
