  • Harry Sanders – From living on the streets to multi-million dollar entrepreneur
One of the joys of this podcast is that I get to meet truly inspirational people, some who have learnt and achieved so much at such a young age.
Harry Sanders is a very special guest and fits this description perfectly.  From sleeping rough in his teenage years, to founding the multi-million-dollar International SEO company, Studio Hawk, Harry is certainly a man with a story to tell.
He talks me through how he initially found himself drawn to the world of SEO, stemming from a desire to help his Dad’s small business at the age of 13 and quenching a thirst to learn more, get better and succeed. As his knowledge grew, so did his confidence, and by just 16 Harry took a leap to leave school, the company he was working for and try it for himself... a decision which, along with family circumstances led to him not to continued success but being broke and living rough on the streets of Sydney Australia.
We have an open and frank conversation about the psychological impact of being homeless had on him and road he has travelled to build back a sense of self-worth and value. Harry astutely talks about the saying 'Self Made', asking me if anyone is really ever 'self' made? For him, he attributes much of where he is now, to the social workers and therapists who worked with him whilst he was on the streets, and allowed him to feel seen, heard and valued.
He shares the reality of building a business from the streets - sleeping with his laptop, relying on McDonald's free Wi-Fi and holding onto using networking events as a chance to connect back into the tech world (as well as an opportunity to access some free food and drink). I get to hear intimately the ways in which his experiences have shaped Harry as an entrepreneur, leader and a mentor to others and how that now impacts how he shapes the culture of his business which is growing internationally.
A visionary leader and inspiring soul.  I hope this episode of RESET the podcast gives you a different perspective on what is important in life. • Pieta McCrum – Love thy self everyday
This week I get to talk all about one of my favourite topics... physical wellbeing. Whilst being no elite athlete myself, I have always loved exercise and it's something which has played a huge part in my life, so I was delighted to sit down with Pieta McCrum Wellness and Fitness Omniprenuer, someone who has made a business out of helping others prioritise and improve their physical health and love themselves every day.
It is no secret that our physical and mental wellbeing are intertwined, and Pieta McCrum,  talks about this with me, sharing the beginning of her exercise journey as a young teenager. As a girl, Pieta was encouraged to exercise to help battle regular panic attacks and anxiety. Since then, sports and movement has been a crutch she has leant on particularly to help her through hard times such as grief, birth and moments of transition and upheaval which she shares with me candidly.
Often in life there is a moment of challenge that makes or breaks us. For Pieta, the birth of her second child, exacerbated her severe back pain and she was forced to re-evaluate her life both in a personal and professional capacity. Pieta made the bold decision to leave her career of 22 years in film and television and focus on curing her chronic pain, before using her learnings to help other women in the same position. From humble beginnings, running a free fitness group for mothers and children at her local school, to now running a truly commercial business connecting women across the world to reach their health and fitness goals - Pieta certainly knows the meaning of resilience and hard work.
It was a joy to speak to Pieta and a reminder of just how important it is for us to prioritise both our mental and physical health. I hope this episode of RESET the podcast inspires you to focus on your wellness, even if you start for just 5 mins a day… if you have enjoyed the show please follow, rate and share with your colleagues and friends. It makes a real difference to us.

  • Rich Lawrence – How passion, purpose and people can bring your whole self to work
In this RESET the podcast I talk to Rich Lawrence, Category, Brand and Innovation Director at New England Seafood. Rich has always been fascinated by marketing and has a pedigree background from Unilever, L’Oreal and Pepsico where he learnt how to create a strong brand with clear and 'crunchy' positioning.  In recent years he has taken on the challenge of transforming New England Seafood.

Rich talks me through the company’s journey over the last 30 years and discusses with me how they continue to battle the preconceptions of the fishing industry. We discuss the importance of maintaining clarity of strategy and plan, as well as how Rich measures success to stay focused on the mission. New England Seafood’s shareholders are 23,000 Simshian  Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people - the bloodline descendants of the first settlers to the America’s.

As with many of my guests who work for organisations driven by a clear sense of purpose, we talk about the need for teams and people to feel aligned to the values of the company and truly believe in what they are working towards – which in Rich’s case is Making New England Seafood, for People and for Planet.

Rich shares with me his personal journey to becoming the maverick marketeer he is today, capable of driving change and overcoming challenge. The personal development he undertook early in his career and work he did to build productive and professional habits into his day-to-day life. For Rich, living a work life based on passion, purpose and people has allowed him to focus his energy and creativity to lead and inspire and make a real difference.

  • Guy Schanschieff – Reducing, reusing and resetting for success

In this latest Reset Podcast I had the chance to chat with Guy Schanschieff, MBE, DL, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Bambino Mio - a leading manufacturer of award-winning reusable products for babies and toddlers.

Guy is a fellow entrepreneur who is taking big leaps towards reducing human impact on our environment.

More than 20 years ago Guy and his partner Jo combined their skills to create Bambino Mio, a company that produces reusable nappies, providing parents with a sustainable alternative to disposables. It has been a long time since I was buying nappies for my children, so I was shocked by some of the stark statistics Guy shared around the devastating environmental impact of disposable nappies. Guy takes us on a fascinating journey, talking us through how and why Bambino have stepped in to help create real change to the challenge at hand.

Guy shares with us his efforts over the years to make reusable nappies more commercially acceptable and accessible worldwide and the skepticism from potential retailers, government, and young parents he has worked and is still working to overcome.

Overcoming the external doubt would not have been possible without the help and strength of his internal team, and we discuss the importance having a workforce who truly believe in and share the values of the company to which they belong. Guy explains how he has built a culture focused on improvement, innovation and truly making a difference in the world and why a team working towards a shared goal and common purpose is the key to unlocking their success.

  • Lex Bradshaw-Zanger – Small incremental changes to accelerate for success
This week I discuss ‘squiggly careers’ with Lex Bradshaw-Zanger's and the journey which has led him to the esteemed position of Chief Marketing and Digital Officer for UK & Ireland, L'Oreal.

As well as discussing Lex’s professional trajectory, he share’s his personal journey- talking to me about why understanding himself as an introvert has been fundamental in shaping the way he builds relationships with people around him, both in and out of the workplace. On this theme of understanding yourself, we also discuss Lex the leader, and why for him, 'doing the simple things well', is one of the defining attributes of his leadership style and how small incremental changes and resets have been the backbone to his career and life.

We reflect on the pivots and changes covid brought to L’Oreal, as well as the new opportunities it provided.  And looking to the future, we discuss what is next for digital communications, how brands can grow, hybrid working and the skill sets which are required to create cultures of true innovation and transformation. Lex finally shares some personal ambitions, including his aim to look after himself more as a priority as he tries find that all important balance between work life and home life. So many marketers are outgoing and self-centered. Lex is neither and it leads to a thoughtful and thought provoking rest the podcast.
