  • Helen Gorman – “Living between the Windows”
We call this episode 'living between the windows' because it is about how my brilliantly brave business partner Helen Gorman has lived her life in between defining moments and events which have shaped her as a mother, a professional and an individual. Whilst the two of us talk everyday and have worked closely together for many years, this conversation opens the door for me to see new parts of the window which makes Helen's light shine so bright.

The thread of learning and ambition seems to characterise a lot of Helen's life and something we talk about throughout this episode - grounded in strong marketing training, we discuss Helen's road to becoming a brilliant client, a strong leader and a credible consultant, balancing this with her personal passions of photography, the outdoors and exercise. We also talk about another big aspect of her life - the impact becoming a mother had on her perspective and approach to working life and what she gained as well as had to give up through this process.

We poignantly discuss the reality of living with an incurable cancer diagnosis and how this affects both how and why Helen continues to work at Let’s Reset.  She shares her changed outlook on life and living, and why although she lives 'much more closely to now', her ambitions for the future are still, being built up (quite literally), including taking on a new project of constructing a house in the Kent countryside.

The metaphor Helen has adopted in recent years around living between these windows is really quite apt, because through the moments of very serious challenge and change which she shares with us, she is a shining example of how we can continue to share and shine light through moments of darkness.

  • Ralf Specht – How to think and behave beyond the Startup

We had such great feedback from the author and businessman, Ralf’s Specht last conversation with me on the themes from his book, Building Corporate Soul that In this week’s episode of Reset the Podcast, we discuss his next book Beyond the Startup.

Ralf shares with us his learnings around the importance of strong teamwork within a global corporation whilst maintaining a 'community' feeling, founded on a common purpose and objectives in times of growth. Our discussion shares real life tips and tools to help bring this topic to life and will be sure to help you as a leader think more strategically about important skills such as role modelling, delegation, empowering your people and uniting a team, all the while leaving space to think and act creatively.

This is certainly an episode which will help you think more broadly and bravely about being a leader and building a culture.

You can also listen to Suki in conversation with Ralf and Adrian Hallmark (details about session and email to [email protected] for a online ticket to watch the session on catch up.

  • Chris Hirst – How to be a non bulls**t leader

In this RESET the podcast we discuss how Chris Hirst Global CEO, Havas came from an education in engineering to perusing a path in advertising... culminating in him being at the helm of one of the most prestigious communications groups in the world. I was fascinated of course, to learn about the moments along the way which have shaped Chris as a person and a leader and he talks specifically about the pivitol role an 8 week course at Harvard Business School had on building a sense of freedom and confidence within him, and how this shaped his fervent belief in the power of education and training. He also talks to me about his first role as a CEO and the bold and brave moves he had to make to take along the way.

Chris shares the motivation behind his book, "No Bullsh*t Leadership" giving us an insight into why leadership is truly a 'doing word' made up of action, and his views on decision making as a strong leader. We have a great conversation too about what resilience and hard work means to the both of us and how our ideas of these concepts and the role they play in strong leadership have shifted with time and experience.

Finally, we discuss how Chris measures other leaders when it comes to wellbeing, D&I, performance and ultimately why leadership is a personal journey and up to everyone to find their own path.

  • The man helping people find their voice… Richard Swan, Founder and Director, London City Voices

This week I had the pleasure of talking to Richard Swan a man with many strings to his bow... Choir director, singalong leader, workshop facilitator, composer, arranger, bandleader and entrepreneur.

Richard is also Founder and Director of London City Voices, a leading community choir in central London where hundreds of business people turn up every week to sing together. Richard clearly has a passion for music and we talk about how we have turned his passion project into a business. Music, mindsets and motivation is at the heart of this conversation as we discuss Richard's ambition to build a 'tribe' of people who come together to feel a part of something bigger than themselves.

Having loved music growing up and always promising to get back into singing, I ask Richard why I feel so daunted by the prospect of going back to it and as luck would have it, he was just the right person to ask... He talks to me about the book he is currently writing, “ Think you can’t sing, think again”  and his personal passion for coaching confidence and creating an environment where people feel safe to sing, practice and play.

Now working with individuals, organisations and events, London City Voices is growing quickly and working hard to build momentum to its movement. Richard talks to me about how he looks after his own wellbeing in order to lead the choir to success and how continuous learning and development is key to hitting all the right notes in his personal and professional life.

  • How to turn Uncertainty into a superpower – with Sam Conniff and Katherine Templar Lewis
This week's conversation is a deep dive into a sensation we all know well, but often fail to truly understand- uncertainty. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Sam Conniff and Katherine Templar Lewis, otherwise known as The Uncertainty Experts, who, as their name would suggest, are some of the leading authorities on the topic of Uncertainty. Bonded by mutual interest in understanding human behaviour as well as their own personal habits, Katherine and Sam share their stories about what led them to becoming experts in this space and the resets which have shaped them along the way.

Our discussion brilliantly simplifies what uncertainty is, how it impacts us all and why it makes us feel the way it does. The real power of the conversation however, comes from the Expert's insight into not only how we can better understand uncertainty as a series of 'Fear, Fog and Stasis', but how we can use it as a superpower to learn, adapt and absorb our surroundings to unlock our potential. They give us tips and tricks and hacks to reframe how we think about and even feel the sensation including reconnecting our body and mind and practicing 'radical gratitude'.

If I wasn't excited before, I now certainly cannot wait to see The Uncertainty Experts at work at our Power Up Festival on Thursday 19th May, where they will deliver a workshop to take the power of uncertainty to the next level. If you haven’t got your ticket see the link below or sign up to RESET the podcast as we are giving away tickets to some of our new members.
