Reset, The Podcast episodes

  • Our own brilliant Ruth Mortimer. Global President, Advertising Week
From starting her working journey in the South of Turkey as an archaeologist, to being appointed Global President of the prestigious Advertising Week, there is much to excavate when it comes to Ruth's colourful career.
Driven by a desire to prove those who underestimate or doubt her wrong, Ruth shares what has guided her path to success, as well as the learnings and moments of resets she has had along the way. We talk about the clarity and perspective the time away from work gave her during her maternity leave, as well as why her whole career has been underpinned by a desire to understand and share people's stories.
From one self confessed 'workaholic' to another, we discuss what we do to switch off and really look after our own wellbeing. We talk openly about the help we have both received from councellors to reflect, reframe and reset our thinking to become better leaders for others and more compassionate individuals to ourselves. Having worked together within a range of different organisations, the conversation looks at the importance of building an open and authentic culture, where people feel able to ask for help and putting care  and wellbeing at the heart of this.

  • Lessons from a maverick in leadership and life with Andrew Garrihy, CMO, DiDi International
This week I had the absolute privilege of sitting down with one of the most dynamic and distinguished marketers globally Andrew Garrihy, CMO, DiDi International. In one of the most open yet optimistic conversations I have had on the podcast to date, I learn so much about the real moments which have shaped Andrew as a human and a businessman- we discuss his fathers alcoholism, the discrimination he has faced personally, as well as his husband's chronic illness. He shares eloquently and authentically the resilience, perspective and importantly gratitude these experiences have instilled within him.

Andrew has changed the way we work at Let’s Reset, his desire to run a 6 week global Reset programme helped us all to shape up and step up.  Andrew tells me why he wanted such pace and how his ambition to build high performing teams is based on his five principle's of; community, culture, care, commonality and coaching. On a personal note, I was truly humbled to hear the impact our work has made on the people and performance of DiDi and feel so grateful to be building a business with a purpose to change the lives of those we work with.

The conversation is real, raw and refreshing, which makes this an episode of RESET the podcast definitely not one to be missed...

P.S. If you would like to get in touch with me to hear more about the work we did with DiDi and how we can make a difference to your team and orgsnisation as well, drop me an email at [email protected]

  • Elizabeth Cowper, CEO and Founder, WoMO Network and the Ludo Partnership, a woman on a mission to help other women
Having always been a working mother myself, I was very excited to sit down with Elizabeth Cowper, Founder of WOMO Network-a SaaS platform transforming the world of the working mother. The business is on a mission to improve the retention of female talent whilst providing a wellbeing solution for mothers and supporting those around her.

We talk candidly about what being a working mother has both looked and felt like for us personally as well as the professional challenges that it has brought along the way. We also discuss our shared passion for being an entrepreneur and explore the WHY behind our businesses. Our conversation looks at the grit, grind and less glamorous moments of being an entrepreneur and why the sense of purpose behind what we do ultimately keeps us going and grounded.

The conversation also looks at the current corporate landscape and the need for businesses to really be looking after employees in the same way they would look after their customer needs. We discuss the importance of open and vulnerable leadership to change cultures and shift mindsets when it comes to wellbeing at work and explore how organisations can and should be using the learnings and opportunities from the pandemic to drive real change and create opportunities for a modern and agile workforce.

  • Ralf Specht – The Business of the Future Must Have Soul
This week I sit down with Ralf Specht, a man driven by a very clear and very strong mission - to make soulless companies a thing of the past.

In our conversation, we deep dive into what it means to build a culture from the ground up. Having founded and run a successful creative agency for more than 8 years, Ralf shares his insight into the critical need to create, what he describes as, "an environment where amazing things can happen", not only for the benefit of the people, but also the success of the company.

Ralf has gone on to write a book which details the different elements which form the foundations of a culture set to thrive. He is kind enough to share with us the key ingredients of his 'Corporate Soul System' , explaining why the "shared purpose", "shared understanding" and "shared behaviours" form the backbone of an upstanding organisation.

We talk energy, engagement and inspiration and why human capital is truly the most important asset to business success.

Come and listen to Ralf speak at Let's Reset's POWER UP Festival with Advertising Week Europe on Thursday 19 May 2022. The event will be held live at Picturehouse Central, Piccadilly Circus, London W1D 7DH and virtually. Register for the event here https://europe.advertisingweek.com/register

  • ‘My name is Angela Diana Greaves and I am a woman just trying to work it out’ Angie Greaves Smooth Radio Presenter, The Sunday Morning Vibe, Angie’s Book Club
This is the response that my guest this week gave me when I asked her “Who are you?”  Angie is best known as Smooth Radio’s Drive time presenter. Her career has gone from strength to strength and we discuss her journey to success- which ironically, hasn't always been so smooth. From her North-West London upbringing, her troublesome school-life, (she was very naughty, but loved her school and her teachers) to her experiences as a Black woman in radio and the systemic racism which still exists in the industry - Angie shares openly the challenges she has faced both personally and professionally and how she has overcome them.
Whilst we all have a story to tell about where we were in March 2020 when we were told to lockdown, Angie's is probably quite different. She talks to me about what it was like to receive such monumental news moments before going live on air to the nation. The question for her was not ‘how do I feel’, but ‘what do others want to hear’ and she shares how she put fear aside to be a voice of reassurance, release and resolve for those tuned in, as well as how she sustained this same energy and positivity throughout the pandemic- often having to put her own personal realities and emotions second to that of the nation. Our conversation looks at not only the power of radio, but the power of talking and sharing openly through times of challenge.
