While Buffy races to stop the scheme, she’s also forced to endure the nightmare of Giles and Joyce acting like lovestruck teens with one another.

As the Sunnydale High Homecoming dance approaches, Buffy finds herself in a full-on rivalry with Cordelia for the coveted crown. But when a mysterious Slayer-hunting competition called “SlayerFest '98” kicks off, Buffy and Cordelia mistaken for Faith —leaving them stranded in the woods, fighting for their lives. Meanwhile, alliances and romantic tensions brew back at school, and the race for Homecoming Queen gets as brutal as the battlefield.

This week on Revamped we’re joined by SLAYERFEST98 host Ian Carlos Crawford to tackle the chaos and comedy of Homecoming. We break down what it’s like to literally be hunted as a Slayer, laugh our way through Buffy and Cordelia’s homecoming queen rivalry, and dig into why this whole ordeal actually means so much to Buffy. The three of us also land firmly on the side of “ICK” when it comes to Willow and Xander’s secret love moments (a.k.a. cheating on their partners), and we award Cordelia full credit for her bravery and those surprisingly clever “tact-tics” she uses to protect Buffy.

When a student is found violently killed in the woods, suspicion falls on Oz, whose werewolf side might be the culprit. But as Buffy secretly deals with the shocking return of a feral and traumatized Angel, the real monster turns out to be far more human. As the gang investigates, the lines between beast and man, control and chaos, begin to blur—with deadly consequences.

This week we get real with the heavy themes of domestic abuse woven into this episode. Courtney is stunned and genuinely shocked by Angel’s sudden return, while we collectively decide Scott Hope is the worst — honestly, we’d take feral, freshly-returned-from-hell Angel over him any day. We also break down Oz’s big moment, revisiting the wild potential of his werewolf form and how it can actually be used to his advantage. Plus, we gush about Faith’s presence on the show and side-eye Xander for dropping the ball yet again — because, let’s be real, this whole mess could’ve been wrapped up way faster if he’d been a little more responsible.

Buffy is forced to confront not only this new threat, but the chaos that Faith’s presence stirs in everyone around her. 

This episode, we’re overjoyed to meet Faith—Kendra’s successor—and dive into everything that makes her bold, chaotic, and instantly captivating. We unpack the parallels between her and Buffy, laugh at the over-the-top (but still kind of scary) villain chasing her, and finally see Buffy begin to release the burden she’s been carrying. Leaving this one on a cliffhanger with the shocking REVEAL of Angel’s return! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???

It’s a big one where we explore new dynamics and witness a fresh start for everyone!

As Buffy tries to reconnect with her friends and adjust to life back in Sunnydale, unresolved conflicts make her return far from smooth. Joyce, unknowingly bringing home a cursed Nigerian mask as decor, sets off a chain of events that begins raising the dead and during Buffy’s welcome-home party, personal and supernatural problems arise when the gang is forced to put their issues aside and fight off a house full of the undead.

This week, we feel the negative vibes flowing as Buffy returns home and tensions rise. We try to understand everyone’s angle, but ultimately side with Buffy—who’s being attacked and not really listened to. We dive into themes of avoidance, bad friends, and the importance of communication in relationships. Plus, we nag on Pat and her “pat-ssive aggressive” behavior, and admit… this might be the first time we kind of hate Willow.
