Let's see if Taka is running a super bling bike or is it a super stock bike?

Bike check was done in 2022 at the Supercross de Lyon show in France.

This time, I was talking with Taka Higashino during a weekend at the French supercross event at Supercross de Lyon and we were talking about how there is no real style in FMX any more unless you see it in an Upright Trick.

Of course, Taka is still one of the more stylish riders even on backflip combos, but the crux of the issue is - style always came from the uprights.You knew more about a rider in 8 jumps of uprights than you could in any flip-combo-fest.

Now, perhaps more than ever, we need to look back at the upright tricks where it is a lot more fun to learn for the riders, it looks cooler for the crowd and more importantly it's probably even 'relatable' to an extent.

I'm totally about this idea and would love to see an upright comp at X Games, or any competition for that matter!

What is it with Munich, Germany?

Has all the beer flowed into the river and everything goes a bit haywire?

Harry Bink unfortunately didn't get the bike he hoped for when it cut out on him on the ramp, just before he was about to show the world what the Next Gen ramp is all about!

And with that, the World Team were unable to do well at all in the points chase, which led to a Team Spain win with Melero, Pinyol and Parra getting the victory on the night for their team.

Luc Ackermann only just beat Melero in the individual stakes by one point!

Anything could have happened, and it pretty much did!

A quick update to let you know NIGHT of the JUMPs will be returning to Munich this weekend and it got me thinking about the FMX Community and how it feels like it's building again in recent times!

We just saw the return from retirement of Dany Torres in Berlin.

In Munich, Libor Podmol will be coming out of retirement.

Harry Bink will be coming to NIGHT of the JUMPs for the first time ever.

And Maikel Melero happily rented his bike to Harry (his competitor!) for the weekend.

Not to mention we just had the live stream from Berlin 1 month ago and the chat was integrated into the telecast from YouTube and how much cooler it felt to speak with all of the FMX fans around the world.

It just felt like I was back in the forums of FreestyleMTX.com or FMXAustralia.com like 20 years ago!

On a lazy Sunday afternoon drive home from NIGHT of the JUMPs, I decided it was the best time to recap what happened over 2 rounds of crazy competition in Berlin with some wild FMX, BMX, MTB and Scooter riding and even wilder crashes!  

Luckily, everyone survived in one piece and we saw some big upsets with Team Czech winning on Friday after Germany's Luc Ackermann crashed in Best Trick and Alehandro Bonafe crashed in MTB for Team Spain.  

Filip Podmol landed his first ever Double Hart in Best Trick and with the points already high after consistent runs from each rider and a Best Whip win to Matej Cesak - Czech Republic took the night!  

Saturday night got even wilder, with Matej's crash in Best Whip and then Filip's Double Flip attempt in Best Trick!   

Exactly the reason BigAirBag has come on board, to save these guys lives and we will see them compete again very soon!
