In this episode of WOCTalk we sit down with Joyce Pittman, PhD, RN, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, CWOCN, FAAN, and Terrie Beeson, MSN, RN, CCRN, ACNS-BC, two authors for the article “Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries and Acute Skin Failure in Critical Care: A Case-Control Study” published in the Journal of Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (JWOCN), the official journal of the WOCN® Society. Pittman and Beeson discuss their comparative study of characteristics and risk factors of avoidable and unavoidable hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs) and acute skin failure (ASF). They also discuss the Pressure Ulcer/Injury Prevention Inventory (PUPI) tool that was developed and tested to help identify unavoidable pressure injuries.
