Running With Horses

A 1950's fictional TV series, Superman, featured mild-mannered newspaper reporter, Clark Kent, a female character Lois Lane and younger male character, Jimmy Olsen. As children we loved it. Superman (Clark Kent) transformed from mild-mannered to super-charged in an imaginary exchange where he received, among other things, a red cape that enabled him to fly and Xray vision to see beyond anything natural. Entertaining yes, make-believe for sure! The real-life comparison for born-again Believers is the supernatural endowment from Almighty God to believe Him for unusual interventions in our lives and His very own empowerment to represent Him in the earth, representing a loving Father to ALL, and any, who will receive Him.

Every Believer has a voice: God-given, God-honored, and ordained for such a time as this. The message when spoken is likewise mandated and authorized by Him, and critically relevant to be heard. With this perspective, to not speak is to refuse stewardship of an obviously divine endowment. In this episode, we consider the cost of remaining silent in the face of wrong as expressed in a familiar phrase associated with Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act. God will not hold us guiltless."

Everyone loves the story of Elijah's powerful victory at Mt Carmel followed by yet another supernatural feat as he outran the king's horse-drawn chariots, arriving back at the entrance to Jezreel ahead of King Ahab, and his horses! Wow! In the same vein, as New Testament Christians we can believe that God by His Spirit will speak to us when we pray, giving us divine insight for "how to" pray (Romans 8:26). Like Elijah, the hand of the Lord is upon us, connecting us to Him in a divine arrangement for possibilities and outcomes we might not have been able to see before He led our prayer with visions and words of divine insight. "And the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah!" (1Kings 18:46) Join us for this episode to consider examples of how to pray according to visions and divine leading.

The expression "true north" is often applied to anything that is on the right course, and not steered off in a wrong direction even if slightly. In this, the second of two episodes, Shirley makes the application to the Holy Spirit's leading in our lives as we continue to benefit from prophetic insight from those representing Him, discerning anything that is off in a wrong direction, even if slightly. The dictionary defines True North as north according to the earth's axis, compared to magnetic north which causes a compass to read north several degrees west of true north. The expression "true north" is often applied to anything that is on the right course, and not steered off in a wrong direction even if slightly. In the days ahead we are need the Holy Spirit to direct our true north; and we need the voices representing Him on a human level to be clear rather than off in a wrong direction, even if slightly. Today's episode is True North, part 1.

Perception may not be everything, but impressions create an expanded version of the way something seems, making it seem real, making it seem true. A wrong impression, even with no basis in fact, grows to take on a life and spirit of its own. Try finding the end of that rope!It is the same with the human perception of God. We perceive Him on a level we can relate to, that we can mentally comprehend. For example, the Bible contains accounts of numerous divine visitations, instances when the Lord or an angel or angels appeared to men and women. Those at the center of these experiences usually could not fully grasp them.

Sometimes when things don't seem to be working out the way we expect, we must realize that God is moving us. This same time every year, we are intent to hear the Lord and discern His direction for the coming year. And because every believer has a measure of prophetic unction, each one has insight for the future, something the Lord wants for us, as much as we want it. I believe that many are hearing the Lord clearly. He reveals His goodness to us for the days ahead. There are, however, yet unsettled matters in the Lord's purview from the year now ending. This matter involves instances where opposition came with a vengeance, even precedence-setting cruelty against those who have stood and stood and stood for the faith, who have patiently sown for a harvest in the Lord's field. Accusation, taunts, threats of loss, and tormenting mind-control are meant to break the human spirit and resolve of the one standing, and thereby gain the upper hand and power-over them—to crush them. For those who can relate to an attack like this, be assured. Even now, God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. His plan is greater. To the faithful, He shows Himself faithful. The accuser will fall on his own counsel, his strategy marked for destruction. An unlikely ally will step forward. You will see lying vanities exposed. Those positioned to make a difference will. No weapon formed against you will prosper, and every word spoken against you will fall, powerless.
