Twenty-five days from now, I'll hit day 2000 of running every single day without fail. After 1975 days and 19,750km in barefoot-style footwear, what strikes me most is how ordinary this milestone feels.
I've reflected on previous milestones - day 100, 500, 1000 - always trying to identify what feels different. The honest answer? Not much changes, and that's exactly the point. I'm not heading to a final destination; I'm proving that consistency creates extraordinary outcomes from ordinary daily actions.
My shortest run during this streak was five kilometres, reserved only for ultra race preparation or recovery. Every other day, I cover 7.2-7.5km. It sounds routine because it is. By day 1975, motivation is irrelevant - you run because that's what you do.
This principle extends beyond running into building businesses and fundraising. Each small action compounds. My goal isn't just day 2000 - it's completing 40,075km around the world and raising £1M for Great Ormond Street and BBC Children in Need.
With 20,325km remaining, day 2000 is simply proof that showing up every single day creates results that seem impossible at the start.
