In today’s episode I am in Conversation with a super amazing and divine woman, Sharon Msiza, whom I also have the pleasure of calling a dear friend. We spoke about the value of education, especially to underrepresented communities and shared how creating access to opportunities can open a whole new world for someone who does not have information at their finger tips. I am inspired by how Sharon uses her own platform to pay it forward by ensuring that more and more black people are given information on the maritime industry as a whole.
Sharon is a South African qualified lawyer who has built up her experience as a practising attorney where she worked at law at firms specialising in various aspects of shipping law, both in South Africa and London.
Her experience also includes working as a legal advisor for a Transport and Logistics company in South Africa, as well as a Claims Executive for a Transport and Logistics Insurance Company in London.
She obtained her LLB (cum laude) from Wits University, and a Masters in Shipping Law from UCT. She is currently completing her PhD in Maritime Law with Dalian Maritime University in China.
She was recently named as one of the Top 100 Women in Shipping globally by ‘All about Shipping, UK’.
She is the founder and host of The Maritime Law Podcast which seeks to promote awareness of the shipping industry, as well as opportunities within the industry. You can follow and listen to the podcast here: tune in
