  • #36 Top Tips to Identify your Ideal Target Audience

In this podcast episode, we’re going to be discussing the importance of identifying your target audience and outlining 5 steps you need to take to do this.

You can read the full blog post here: https://blog.hurree.co/blog/identify-target-audience

Finding the ideal target audience is the key to optimising your conversions, making the most of your marketing strategy and your budget.

    What is a Target Audience?

The definition of a target audience is a group of consumers or organisations who are most likely to purchase your products or services.

It’s important to note that the term ‘target audience’ is often used interchangeably with another term, ‘target market’. There are, however, subtle differences between the two.

The target market for a product is the people most likely to use the product, whereas the target audience for a product is the people most likely to purchase that product.

The most common data points that are used to define the target audience of a company are:

    • Age
    • Gender
    • Education background
    • Purchasing power
    • Social class
    • Location
    • Consumption habits

    Why identify a target audience?

    • Build Stronger Connections

The more you find out about your target audience, the stronger connection you can build with consumers.

    • Enable Market Segmentation

Market segmentation allows you to tailor your messaging to each audience segment, personalising your customer’s experience even more.

    • Optimise Budgets Efficiently

Targeting your spending towards hyper-specific areas of the market increases your chances of conversion by efficiently spending your money where it matters most.

5 Top Tips to Identify your Ideal Target Audience

    1. Know your company’s offerings inside and out
    2. Identify trends within your current customer base
    3. Conduct an in-depth competitor analysis
    4. Conduct market research (primary & secondary sources)
    5. Build your buyer personas

  • #30 - 4 Tips for Creating a Successful SWOT Analysis

In order to be a successful brand, you need to regularly evaluate your actions and processes to ensure that you are functioning as efficiently as possible. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by analyzing a company, goal, or objective using the SWOT analysis method.

If you don’t know what a SWOT analysis is, or perhaps you would like a little refresher, you’ve come to the right place.

SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

A SWOT analysis is a useful tool for your marketing strategy, particularly when it comes to evaluating a new project, an objective, or to analyze the business as a whole. It acts as a roadmap that details areas in which you excel, where you can improve, your potential opportunities, and any challenges you can (or may need to) tackle.

This podcast exemplifies each aspect of the SWOT method and offers 4 top tips for creating a successful SWOT analysis!

  • #29 - How User-centered Design Can Complement Your Marketing Strategy [Guest Post - Fathom]

Marketing and user-centred design are both driven by research, informed by human behaviour, and validated by results. While the focus is different, there’s a lot of common ground between the two disciplines.

There’s overlap between what marketing and UX set out to achieve and some of the activities they each perform. Both are concerned with drawing honest feedback from customers and prospects. They both use that feedback to optimise touchpoints and interfaces between the person and the business. The major difference is that marketing mostly focuses on getting attention from the customer while UX mainly focuses on giving attention to them.

Ultimately, they are both working towards the same goal, which is to turn prospects into happy customers by understanding what they value and delivering solutions to them.

In this podcast, you will learn how the experiences that customers have with marketing touchpoints define how they perceive a brand, and therefore how having a user-centered design can complement and optimise your marketing strategy.

  • #28 What is Marketing Mix Modeling? 3 Benefits & Limitations

In this episode of the Marketing Slice podcast, we’re going to answer the question: What is Marketing Mix Modeling? And we will discover 3 benefits and limitations of this tactic.

Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) is closely related to the marketing theory concept of the 4Ps: Product, Place, Price, and Promotion. The 4Ps consider what factors are needed for a business to succeed, whereas MMM seeks to determine how much success was generated by each factor and forecast what future success could be achieved if changes were made to the marketing mix.

Marketing mix modeling is a statistical method of determining the effectiveness of marketing campaigns by breaking down aggregate data and differentiating between contributions from marketing tactics and promotional activities, and other uncontrollable drivers of success.

The results, or ‘output’, of your marketing mix model analysis, will then inform the composition of future marketing efforts with a level of certainty, i.e. to change input ‘a’ will affect output ‘b.’

We will discuss the benefits and the limitations of MMM in this episode, as well as giving you the information you need to pitch a marketing mix project to your organization. MMM is a very complex process, so it’s likely that you will require a specialist vendor to get the most out of your data. For this reason, we have covered some essential questions you should ask any MMM vendor before you finalize a deal.

  • #27 - How to Complete Your First Competitor Analysis: A Step by Step Tutorial

With any new business, there is a long list of dos and don’t that, if followed correctly, will set you on the road to success, and completing a strong competitor analysis most certainly on the do list. Conducting this research will ensure you are armed with all of the information needed to tackle the challenges ahead and that you’re not blindly entering a market you know nothing about.

    So, what is competitor analysis?

Competitor analysis is the process of researching, categorizing, and evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of brands that you deem to be a potential threat to your business.

By conducting a competitor analysis, you will gain knowledge and an understanding of:

    • The market you operate within
    • Your target audience
    • Market forecasting and potential opportunities
    • Competitor products & product development horizons
    • Pricing structures
    • Acquisition trends

In this podcast, we will talk you through our 6 steps for completing your first competitor analysis:

    Step 1: Research the Market

We suggest using a Context Cavas to gain a 360-degree view of the market that you are entering.

    Step 2: Identify your competitors

You will need to consider both direct and indirect competitors, as both pose a threat to your business.

Related content: SEO Competitor analysis - A step-by-step guide.

Step 3: Record an overview of your competitor’s business

Three areas to cover here are operations, funding, and revenue.

Step 4: Use the feature comparison matrix to compare your products and offerings

The feature comparison matrix is a top-down list comparison of all products and features; determine the uniqueness and commonality between your offerings.

Step 5: Use the RACE acronym to conduct an in-depth content analysis

RACE stands for: Reach. Act. Convert. Engage.

Step 6: Act upon your findings

Create goals and objectives to ensure you act upon your findings promptly and can analyze the success or failure of these new factors when the time comes.
