In episode 5, I talk to you about my WHY. It’s a complex, multilayered why of wanting to show up for my children so that they grow up to be adults who have mindfulness, can process their emotions and have all of the tools they need to CHOOSE the life they want to live and then LIVE it.

The only way I can teach my children this is to lead by example. To process my own emotions, have accountability for them, to fuel my body the right way, to move, to meditate, to do the work I WANT to do and not the work that is expected of my (by family or society), to fill my day with the things that bring me to my core desired feelings.

My challenge for you this week is to find out what your why is. If you want change in your life, WHY?

Lately I've taken a lot of notice to how adults have been interacting with one another. I don't know if it's because I'm in a time of raising my children and it's more apparent to me or if there really is a change in how we are choosing to act. I see a lot of selfishness, pettiness, simply being mean, a lack of manners in all areas and an overall lack of living by golden rules.

For may parents 27th wedding anniversary, I decided to make a "top 10" list how my parents raised my brothers and me and giving us the foundation of good character, good family values and a strong marriage.

Hang with me as I list these top 10 things. I'd love to know, do you also feel like we are losing these golden rules in our society? While I know I am trying my hardest to instill these same values while raising my own children, I wonder if I'm not trying hard enough? Are any of us? Is this what is happening with our society? All food for thought.

My challenge for you this week is to go out there and live by some golden rules. I strongly believe it makes a huge difference in how we perceive our world and how the world functions. We are in a sad place, as a society, and we also have all of the power to change it. If nothing changes, nothing changes.

In episode 3, we continue a discussion around intuition and how all of the answers we are constantly looking for are always within us.

We are constantly trying to access answers to our questions and problems through external resources: asking other people to tell us what to do, downloading a million apps to help us with weight loss, to do lists, decision making, etc. While it’s important to delegate, it’s also important to be accountable for our own decisions and looking within to find the answers.

I share a story from early on in my motherhood journey and how my mother, in a fleeting moment, told me to “just love that baby and the rest will come.” It was a pivotal moment for me in understanding how to get through anything in love. That if we lead with love and compassion, there are no problems to solve; it resolves itself through the love and compassion we put out there.

This week’s challenge: Find one area of your life that you are using other resources to fix. Is it your diet? Physical wellness? Sleep? Exercise? Connection with your children? I challenge you to close the app, put down the book and close your eyes. FEEL what it is you need in this situation. Your body, intuition and love will guide you.

In this episode, I share how we are able to reconnect with our intuition through creativity and our children. I start by discussing my journey in creativity as a very creative child who, I realize in hindsight, was very intuitive. I believe that all of us are creative as children and are taught to put this away as we grow older and, in turn become disconnected from our intuition.

I share my journey of circling back to photography and at the same time realizing how connected I became to my intuition again which guided me into leaving my career and starting my own business. However, the stress and workload of my business pulled me away from my creativity and again from my intuition. It is photography, still, that ultimately brought me back into my creativity, intuition and alignment.

Through photographing so many children and my own children, I am constantly reminded of their unjaded love for life. How connected they are with themselves and authenticity and how intuitive they truly are.

Finding your own creative outlet is what will really bring some light into your life. You’re going to feel more open, intuitive and more clear. Decisions will be easier and you will feel more confident in your choices and ultimately be more aligned.

This week's challenge: Find a single creative outlet. Nothing fancy. No need to start a business or share it with anyone, just go do something creative.

In episode 1, get to know me, who I am and how Same Boat Huddle was born. I share my story of starting a career in school counseling, choosing to leave my career to start my own business whilst becoming a mother which ultimately lead me into burnout and regular anxiety attacks. Through this journey, I found spirituality, personal development and an understanding of how to manage my time and energy so that I can "do it all" and actually feel good.

Same Boat Huddle was originally created as an online space for women to have a place to turn to, to not feel alone. To have a space that felt validating and comforting and to realize that we all go through the same struggles. And while we all go through the same struggles, it's also a space to learn and thrive so we don't have to live in these struggles.

This week's challenge: Go out there and connect with someone today. Share your story, encourage each other to take time for themselves, tell another mama she's doing a great job; just get out there!
