      • EP76. "Harrison Butker & Learning How to Be Un-offendable"

Podcast: Harrison Butker & Learning How to Be Unoffensible

        SHOW NOTES:

        • Worldview of Harrison is unarguably CATHOLIC - therefore, the lens we use to view an opinion should be one of curiosity, not offense
        • The reaction in the media goes to show us how a difference of opinion is so intolerable - you will be “cancelled”, ridiculed, and judged
          • We can disagree with each other respectfully.
          • We all have personal convictions, and sometimes they differ with other believers: alcohol, music, politics, etc.
          • note: it’s important to stand on God's truth, and be truth tellers over people pleasers.
          • As believers we want to communicate TRUTH with GRACE & humility.
          • As Christian’s we always want to form our opinions based off scripture.

“You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.

            1 Corinthians 10:23 NLT

            • What if I disagree with a fellow Christian on a non-salvation issue?
            • “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4 ESV

              • The Dangers of People Pleasing & Seeking Affirmation from Others

Welcome to another episode of The Freedom Podcast! We're so happy you are here. On today's episode, we are diving into people pleasing and seeking approval from others.

                SHOW NOTES:

                • There is a temptation to desire to be “liked”, popular, and desired - but when that trumps our faith & trust in God & our identity in Him, it is idolatry & pride

                    • “If you are making everyone happy, you are also making some of the wrong people happy! You’re trying to please people who are judgmental, controlling, or arrogant, people who require others to do what they want them to do before they extend approval. So, to keep hurtful people happy, you must do some things that are not good in the long run. You have to make some bad choices to keep these people smiling" - Dr. Henry Cloud

                    • Verses:

Galatians 1:10 Does this sound as if I am trying to win human approval? No indeed! What I want is God’s approval! Am I trying to be popular with people? If I were still trying to do so, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Proverbs 29:25 Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.

Psalm 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.

Colossians 3:23  Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is—what is proper, pleasing, and perfect.

Welcome back! HAPPY 2024, on this episode we are discussing the Proverbs 31 woman.

                                  NOTES:

Proverbs 31 is a list of virtues that are present in a God-fearing woman.

                                  • it’s not an aesthetic or checklist.
                                  • What is the purpose of Proverbs 31? Are we giving attention to ourselves, self-glorifying… more modest, homesteading, homeschooling, etc.?

                                  • As believers, we don’t all have to copy/paste what we think is the ideal Christian woman.

                                    • be careful not to fall prey to the belief that you are not unique. God specifically designed you for a purpose...

                                      • What is a Proverbs 31 woman?
                                        • Trustworthy
                                        • Hardworking
                                        • Diligent
                                        • Generous
                                        • Fearless
                                        • Prioritizes family - her husband praises her
                                        • Fears the Lord
                                          • The list of attributes that encompasses a Proverbs 31 woman is more about quality than a specific mold.

Welcome back to another episode of The Freedom Podcast!

I feel like God is calling me in another direction but I’m not sure, how I know this feeling is from the Lord.

                                              • “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him” James 1:5
                                              • Walking away from your old self is difficult but the Lord will prompt your heart when it’s time to switch gears.
                                              • Change of perspective. How I view work, relationships, and friends will change based on aligning with Christ.
                                                • Remember God gives us free will. When we are aligned with Christ he will guide our future.
                                                • The Lord speaks to us through his word and convicts our hearts & minds. We become sanctified in the word (John 17:17)
                                                • When we’re in the word we will know God's will because our decisions will align with the Bible. God will never ask us to sin.
                                                • God gave us the Holy Spirit to help us discern.
                                                • God will give us peace in the situation. God is a god of order, not chaos.
                                                  • “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16

                                                  • Living Out Your Faith Monday - Saturday

                                                    Welcome back! We've missed you...

On today's episode, we are talking about living out our faith and being BOLD in sharing the gospel.

                                                    • As Christians, we can easily isolate our faith to Sundays and forget about being a light in the dark throughout the week.
                                                        • Are we praying for opportunities to share our faith?
                                                        • Are we fearing God more than we fear people?
                                                        • How can be bolder in our faith?
                                                        • We are called to be IN the world, but not OF the world

                                                        • The great commission: Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
