Long before the Jeffrey Epstein scandal made global headlines, there was another disturbing case centered around a remote island in Michigan—North Fox Island.
In this episode, we sit down with forensic psychologist and criminologist Dr. David C. Hayes to break down the North Fox Island case, an alleged trafficking network that operated decades before the internet, and its possible connections to the Oakland County Child Killer investigation.
We explore how these cases—though separated by time—reveal striking similarities involving power, privilege, and accountability.
This conversation goes beyond politics and focuses on a larger issue: why do some individuals face consequences, while others seem to avoid them entirely?

Tonight on Santana True Crime, we are going live to examine one of the most disturbing unsolved murders connected to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
On June 30, 1965, 21-year-old Suellen Evans was attacked while walking through Coker Arboretum on the UNC campus. The attack occurred in broad daylight. Evans fought back against her attacker and was able to tell witnesses that the man had attempted to rape her before she collapsed from her injuries.
Despite an intense investigation, her killer has never been identified.
Joining me tonight is my brother and co-author Brian Santana, who teaches true crime at the college level. Together we wrote the book:
“A Murder on Campus: The Professor, the Cop, and North Carolina's Most Notorious Cold Case.”
During this live show we will discuss:
• The timeline of the attack on Suellen Evans
• The investigation and suspects
• The eerie similarities some researchers see between this case and the 1973 murder of Virginia Olson at University of North Carolina Asheville
• Whether modern DNA and genetic genealogy could finally solve the case
Join us live tonight and share your thoughts in the chat.
Crime journalist Maria DiLorenzo joins Santana True Crime to discuss her upcoming book Confessions of the Green River Killer: A True Story of Manipulation, Madness, and a Search for Justice.
After writing to serial killer Gary Ridgway, Maria expected silence. Instead, the man known as the Green River Killer called her from prison. Over the following years, Ridgway contacted her hundreds of times, revealing disturbing insights into his crimes, motivations, and twisted psychology.
Ridgway—one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history—was convicted of 49 murders, mostly targeting vulnerable women in Washington state.
In this episode we discuss:
• How Maria became one of the only journalists Ridgway would talk to
• The disturbing phone calls and psychological manipulation she experienced
• What Ridgway revealed about his crimes
• Whether additional victims may still be unidentified
• The emotional toll of interviewing a serial killer
This is a chilling look inside the mind of one of America’s most notorious killers—and the journalist who spent years trying to uncover the truth.
Maria DiLorenzo is a crime journalist and writer who has extensively interviewed incarcerated murderers to better understand the criminal mind. She is the author of Confessions of the Green River Killer, based on hundreds of conversations with Gary Ridgway. The book is scheduled to be released on July 21st.

In this episode of Santana True Crime, we examine the 1987 disappearance of 16-year-old Theresa Bier from Fresno, California.
After Theresa vanished in the Sierra National Forest, a shocking claim emerged — that she had been taken by Bigfoot. But was that story a distraction from something far more human?
Joined by Kelli Brink, we break down the known timeline, the individuals connected to the case, and the troubling details surrounding the canyon where Theresa was last seen.
This case remains unsolved.
Our goal is to focus on the facts, avoid speculation, and keep Theresa’s story in the public eye.

What happens when the justice system gets it wrong?
In this clip from Santana True Crime, I’m joined by author Steffen Hou as we discuss a chilling case where a person was executed — and later evidence suggested they were innocent.
How does that happen? And what does it say about the death penalty?
Steffen dives deeper into wrongful convictions and death row cases in his book The Deprived, which explores the stories of Americans sentenced to death despite claims of innocence.
📚 I’ll have a link to The Deprived in the description below.
Do you support the death penalty — or does the risk of executing an innocent person change your view?
