What do actress Sarah Ramos (Parenthood, The Affair) and writer/comedian Caroline Goldfarb (The Late Late Show with James Corden, Alone Together) have in common? They’re hysterical, devoted pop culture enthusiasts, best friends, and recently launched a podcast series called THE RENNER FILES. THE RENNER FILES, created, hosted and produced by the duo, is a new kind of true crime podcast - one that’s not a true crime at all. Instead, it’s about Jeremy Renner’s app. Why did Oscar nominated actor Jeremy Renner ever have an app? Why did he do it? Who made it?  Who used it? And why did it shake the internet to its core? They set out to investigate the mystery of the app, but got so much more in return. THE RENNER FILES lays out a thrilling timeline of the app’s rise and fall through talking head interviews with key players, journalists, and unexpected Renner experts (like actor Seth Rogen). But it also tells a larger story: one about the dangerous side of celebrity fandom, the ethics of audience exploitation, the celebrity influencer complex, and the destructive power of ironic internet comedy.  In this episode, we talked about their fan-filled childhoods, from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen cruises to NSYNC concerts, to navigating the entertainment industry, and a behind the scenes look at what went into creating one of the mosts provocative podcasts out there right now.
