Sometimes you hear a person’s story and wonder how they have not only overcome but transformed their pain into something positive to help the world.
In this week’s episode Niall is joined by Robin Grace, a Garda who has turned his own difficult experiences into helping others in their crisis moments. While travelling India in his early twenties, Robin had a flashback to a traumatic event from his childhood that would change the course of his life. It was also at this time that he found a passion for Buddhism and meditation that would help him for many years to come. Having come through an intense processing of trauma and his own dark night of the soul, Robin took a chance and applied for An Garda Síochána, Ireland’s police force, where his passion for suicide prevention and intervention grew. He’s now hoping to develop an app that will use technology to support people in their most difficult moments.
This podcast discusses some sensitive themes, including sexual abuse and suicide, please take care when listening.
