We made it to episode 200 and we made it special. We welcome back Aaron Nabus and Dhwani Shah to celebrate with Susy Botello. October marks our 7th year and this episode is a landmark.
Join us for a fun and entertaining discussion with Susy, Aaron. It begins with the big news from September 19: Why is a movie filmed entirely with the iPhone spending 75 million dollars? We discuss the film, 28 Years Later, by Danny Boyle starring Cillian Murphy.
Susy shares how the idea of podcasting began in 2007 with GarageBand. But it was in March 2017 when she was inspired to launch the podcast with a long list of potential guests.
We also discuss mobile filmmaking with Dhwani and the inaugural FilAm Creator Con that launched September 14 by Aaron in San Diego.

We are happy to bring Jason Rivera back to the show for this episode to discuss the topic of storytelling for your film with music. Joey Min and myself enjoyed an in-depth discussion with Jason.
Jason is a film composer and he's scored many films. His technical knowledge and professional experience began when he was four years-old writing and playing music.
You won’t want to miss a second of this episode if you’re thinking of turning a story into a film, even if you’re not shooting it with your smartphone. The language of music and storytelling speaks to all of us through films.

Episode 196 was recorded July 18, 2024 and published September 3, 2024.
Mark Hadlow is my guest in this episode. He’s also one our Honorary Ambassadors for the International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego. He was a protagonist in a feature film shot with iPhone in New Zealand with Jed Brophy, “Blue Moon.”
Mark was one of the judges for the IMFF feature film competition 2024. He shares his thoughts on the winner of this year’s feature, “A Long Afternoon” shot in one take with iPhone 13 Pro Max, directed by Sohibanoo Zoghadr.
We discuss acting, including his experience with “Blue Moon.” He also discusses his role in “Mortal Engines.” This is an insightful conversation with a dedicated, experienced, and in my opinion, venerated actor and friend from New Zealand. Mark is one of New Zealand’s most respected actors.

Episode 192 was recorded July 13, 2024 and published August 6, 2024.
Dhwani Shah's film, "Sapling" won the First Prize in the Short Film Competition in the International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego. Dhwani and her team attended the festival in person in April 2024.
I had an introspective conversation with Dhwani about filmmaking and the making of her winning film. It’s evident in our discussion how talented and skilled Dhwani Shah is as a film director, writer and editor.
It was a great honor to discuss the craft and art of filmmaking as a language.
“Cinematography comes from photography, comes from, you know, fine arts and painting and compositions…all those disciplines are really old, but the one true language of filmmaking is editing.” Dhwani Shah
