The 2019 Australian federal election will be held on Saturday 18 May 2019 to elect members of the 46th Parliament of Australia. Interests about the election is growing among expatriate Bangladeshis. Yousuf Ali from Melbourne, Victoria thinks besides education, health and other welfare promises by the Australian political parties, commitment for religious rights is also important. He expresses his views to SBS Bangla on forthcoming Australian federal election.  

আগামী শনিবার ১৮মে অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ৪৬তম ফেডারেল নির্বাচন। নির্বাচন নিয়ে আগ্রহ আছে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের মধ্যেও। মেলবোর্নের বাসিন্দা এবং বাংলাদেশী কমিউনিটির নেতা ইউসুফ আলী মনে করেন শিক্ষা, স্বাস্থ এবং অন্যান্য কল্যাণমুখী কর্মসূচির বাইরে রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো মুসলিমদের প্রতি কি মনোভাব পোষণ করে এটাও তার ভাবনার বিষয়।  আসন্ন নির্বাচন নিয়ে তার মতামত ব্যক্ত করেছেন এস বি এস বাংলার কাছে।  

The 2019 Australian federal election will be held on Saturday 18 May 2019 to elect members of the 46th Parliament of Australia. Expatriate Bangladeshis are observing the election with some interests. Bangladeshi expatriate from Perth, Western Australia Mr. Debashis Saha is worried about his state's low population. He demands more action for sustainable population growth in Western Australia. Mr. Saha is quite happy with the living standard of Western Australia but its economy is predominantly dependant on mining industries. He wants major political parties in Australia to contemplate how the WA economy can be diversified so that the state can attract more people to live and work. 

আগামী শনিবার ১৮মে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে যাচ্ছে অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ৪৬তম জাতীয় নির্বাচন। এ নির্বাচনে আগ্রহ আছে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদেরও।এই নির্বাচনের প্রেক্ষিতে পার্থের বাসিন্দা দেবাশীষ সাহার ভাবনা ওয়েস্টার্ন অস্ট্রেলিয়ার কম জনসংখ্যা নিয়ে। এসবিএসকে তিনি তার প্রতিক্রিয়ায় জানান, ওয়েস্টার্ন  অস্ট্রেলিয়া রাজ্যের অর্থনীতি মূলত খনিজ শিল্প নির্ভর। বসবাসের জন্য ওয়েস্টার্ন অস্ট্রেলিয়া খুব ভালো জায়গা হলেও জনসংখ্যা খুব কম। রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো উচিত এমন উন্নয়ন কর্মসূচি নেয়া যাতে খনি শিল্পের বাইরেও আরো বিভিন্ন শিল্প গড়ে উঠে। এতে আরো অভিবাসী এ রাজ্যে কাজ করতে এবং থাকতে আসবে।

The Holy month of Ramadan for Muslims will begin on Monday, 6th May 2019 in Australia as announced by the Australian National Imams Council. Australian Muslim Welfare Centre's President Mr Golam Kibria explained the benefits and importance of fasting. The Muslim holy month of Ramadan commemorates the first revelation of the Quran.

The World Health Organization has for the first time advised parents that children under the age of two should not spend any time passively watching electronic screens. It's also recommended children aged two to four spend no more than an hour a day watching programmes or playing computer games.

Bangla New Year festival "Boishakhi Mela 2019" was arranged in Dandenong, Melbourne on Sunday, 28 May 2019. It was organised by the Australian-Bangladesh Association (ABA) Victoria.
