PM of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina had been to Sydney for three days visit and received the Global Women’s Leadership Award from the Global Summit on Women on Friday night.

Bangladeshi Australians celebrated ANZAC day with love, respect and honor. Some them are participated in ANZAC Day march and related other programs. Four Bangladeshi Australian councilors in Sydney participated in council's programs and sharing their views with communities. Campbelltown city Councilor Masood Chowdhury requested to do more news on this day to make more people engaged, as it is very honourable and memorable day for Australia.

SBS Bangla spoke with Councilors Masood Chowdhury, Mohammad Huda, Mohammad Zaman, Bangladeshi community leader in Canberra Ignatius Rozario and in Adealide with Wasim Saeed about ANZAC Day and community Participation.

শ্রদ্ধা আর স্মরণে 'এনজেক ডে' পালন করেছেন অস্ট্রেলিয়া প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিরা। এনজেক ডে প্যারেড এবং দিবসটি উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত নানা অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দিয়েছেন অনেকেই। সিডনিতে বাংলাদেশি বংশোদ্ভূত অস্ট্রেলিয়ান চার জন কাউন্সিলর যোগ দিয়েছেন তাদের নিজ নিজ কাউন্সিলের অনুষ্ঠানে। যেখানে তারা কম্যুনিটির মানুষের সাথে দিবসের প্রতিপাদ্য নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন।  

দিবসটি উপলক্ষে কাউন্সিলর মাসুদ চৌধুরী, মোহাম্মদ হুদা, মোহাম্মদ জামান, ক্যানবেরা বাংলাদেশ কম্যুনিটির প্রতিনিধি ইগ্নেসিয়াস রোজারিও এবং এডিলেইডের ওয়াসিম সাইদ কথা বলেছেন এসবিএস বাংলার সাথে।

ত্রিভূজ প্রেমের কাহিনী নিয়ে নির্মিত বলিউডের ছবি 'পারেশান পারিন্দা'। যাতে মূল চরিত্রে অভিনয় করেছেন ক্যানবেরা প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশি সাদিয়া নাবিলা। গত ২৮ মার্চ ভারতের বেশ কয়েকটি প্রেক্ষাগৃহে মুক্তি পেয়েছে সাদিয়ার প্রথম ছবি 'পারেশান পারিন্দা'।

"আমার কাছে এটা স্বপ্নের মত," বলেছেন সাদিয়া। "হিন্দি শিখতে আমাকে বেশ কয়েকটি ওয়ার্কশপ করতে হয়েছে। ছবিটি নিয়ে সবাই ভালো ফিডব্যাক দিচ্ছে।"

Sadman Nakib Swapnil received Commended award from NSW Education department in 2017 for his excellence in Bangla language. Practicing Bangla in family level was the crucial matter behind this, said Sadman and his mother Nusrat Jahan Smriti.

২০১৭ সালে বাংলা ভাষা চর্চার জন্য নিউ সাউথ ওয়েলস এডুকেশন ডিপার্টমেন্ট থেকে কমেন্ডেড অ্যাওয়ার্ড পেয়েছেন সাদমান নাকিব স্বপ্নীল। পারিবারিকভাবে বাংলা ভাষার চর্চাই এর পেছনে অবদান রেখেছে বলেন তিনি ও তার মা নুসরত জাহান স্মৃতি।

The Buruli ulcer responds to a roughly eight-week course of antibiotics, in rare cases surgery to remove skin or even amputation is needed. In 2016, there were 182 new cases of the ulcer in Victoria and in 2017 this number increased to 236 cases. SBS Bangla spoke with GP Dr Chowdhury Beg.

Ecstatic celebrates the Commonwealth's diverse spiritual traditions.

This major concert event is led by world-music legend Susheela Raman uniting artists from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Music, film and performance all feature in a night devoted to creating connections.

The evening features performances from Kalpana Patowary, Saman Lenin, Rizwan Muazzam Qawwali, Ember Kannan and Pirashanna Thevarajah. Tanim played his sarod.

On the eve of Bangla New Year 1425, Facebook has released the first Bangladeshi cartoonists' special stickers 'Drogo', a pet dragon.

"Meet Drogo and watch this little creature interact in your world, messages, and comments," said Facebook’s post.

Drogo is a fictional character made by the Bangladeshi cartoonist twin Manik and Ratan. Both of them are graphic designer. SBS Bangla spoke with them about Drogo and their future plannings. For listening to the interview play the above audio player. 

ব্যাপারটা কাকতালীয় হলেও সত্য যে, বাংলা নববর্ষের প্রাক্কালেই বাংলাদেশি কার্টুনিস্টের বিশেষ স্টিকার 'ড্রুগো' অনুমোদন করেছে ফেসবুক। যা কিনা পোষা ড্রাগনের চরিত্র। ফেসবুক এই প্রথম বাংলাদেশি কোনো কার্টুনিস্টের স্টিকার অনুমোদন দিল।

এখন অনেকেই মেসেঞ্জার চ্যাট এবং পোস্টে অনুভূতি প্রকাশের জন্য লেখার পরিবর্তে অ্যানিমেটেড চরিত্র বা স্টিকার ব্যবহার করেন। স্টিকার হিসেবে ড্রুগোকে ব্যবহারের আহ্বান জানিয়েছে ফেসবুক।

Shanjida Kabir Borsha has been selected 'Miss Photogenic' and 1st runner up of 'Miss India Australia 2018'. She was the only contestant to get two titles from Miss India Australia 2018. She was judged by Bollywood celebrity- Dia Mirza, Miss Lebanon Australia- Mary Mehajer, and Miss Continents Oceania-  Brooke Murray.

"Seeing Karishma Kapoor as their last judge, I decide to enter as it's an only one authentic beauty pageant and they have a lots of good reputations," said Borsha. 

This event was organised by Miss India Australia Corporation and Maharaja Haveli in Sydney on April 14, 2018. Borsha sharing her feelings and story with SBS Bangla.

'মিস ফটোজেনিক ২০১৮' নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন, সিডনিতে বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশী শিক্ষার্থী সানজিদা কবির বর্ষা। একই সাথে 'মিস ইন্ডিয়া অস্ট্রেলিয়া ২০১৮' এর প্রথম রানার আপও নির্বাচিত হন তিনি। বর্ষাই একমাত্র প্রতিযোগি, যিনি এ আসরে দু’টি খেতাব অর্জন করেছেন। যেখানে বিচারক ছিলেন, বলিউড তারকা দিয়া মির্জা, মিস লেবানন অস্ট্রেলিয়া- মেরি ম্যাহাজের এবং মিস কন্টিনেন্টস ওশেনিয়া- ব্রুকি মৌরে। 

“তাদের আগের আসরে বিচারক হিসেবে ছিলেন কারিশমা কাপুর, যা আমাকে উদ্ভুদ্ধ করে। তাদের ভালো সুনাম রয়েছে এবং তারা সত্যিকারের সুন্দরী প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজক,” বললেন বর্ষা।   

গত ১৪ এপ্রিল সিডনিতে অনুষ্ঠিত এই  প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজক, মিস ইন্ডিয়া অস্ট্রেলিয়া কর্পোরেশন এবং মহারাজা হাভেলি। এসবিএস বাংলার সাথে তার অনুভূতি এবং মডেল হয়ে উঠার কথা বলেছেন মিস ফটোজেনিক সানজিদা কবির বর্ষা।

Boishakhi Mela is one of the most important occasions, of Bangla New Year’s day. Among the popular fairs of Bengali culture and heritage, Boishakhi Mela is significant for its own features and appeals. It is a festival of joy and pleasure. People of all walks of life do not leave any stone unturned to enjoy themselves on this day.

This Year, first ever in Sydney Olympic park, Boishakhi Mela was  celebrated at the same day which is Bengali “POHELA BOISHAKH”.

In early 90’s the convener of the organisation came up with the idea of celebrating Bengali New Year Festival. After some discussions in the committee and with other community groups they decided to organise Boishakhi Mela (Bengali New Year celebration). Boishakh is the first month of Bengali calendar. It is a solar calendar. And the first day of Boishakh generally corresponds to 14 April. Bangabandhu Council Australia organise Boishakhi Mela(Bengali NewYear Festival)in Sydney Olympic Park.It’s the biggest Bengali Community Event in Australia and outside Bangladesh.

Melbourne based Dr. Aziz Rahman is a public health physician. At present Dr. Rahman is working as a senior lecturer at La Trobe University in Melbourne. He spoke with SBS Bangla about e-cigarette.  

বিশ্বের কিছু দেশে, ধূমপানে আসক্তি কমাতে রাষ্ট্রীয়ভাবে ই- সিগারেট ব্যবহারের অনুমোদন দেয়া হয়েছে। যদিও এই ব্যাপারে এখনও কোন সিদ্ধান্তে আসেনি অস্ট্রেলিয় সরকার।

ধূমপান প্রতিরোধে ধর্মীয় গুরুরা রাখতে পারেন কার্যকর ভূমিকা। এরিমধ্যে, মেলবোর্নের কিছু মসজিদে নেয়া পদক্ষেপ দৃষ্টান্ত গড়েছে। 

এক দশকেরও বেশী সময় ধরে, ধূমপান প্রতিরোধ এবং নিয়ন্ত্রনে করণীয় নানা বিষয়ে গবেষণা করে আসছেন ডক্টর আজিজ রহমান। এ বিষয়ে এসবিএস বাংলার সাথে কথা বলেন তিনি।
