On June 24 Turkey will hold parliamentary and presidential elections. Our correspondent Hatice Kamer brings us all the news and current affairs regarding the elections.

Our correspondent Ahmed Ghafur reports from Erbil where polls have closed across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in the first national election since the country declared victory over the Islamic State group.

The vote is the fourth since the 2003 US-led toppling of Saddam Hussein.

The federal Treasurer, Scott Morrison, has delivered a Budget to position the Turnbull government as the stable option for voters ahead of the next federal election.

With a plan he says will provide tax relief to encourage and reward working Australians, federal treasurer Scott Morrison says he's backing businesses so they can create more jobs.

He also says the budget will guarantee essential services for Australians and keep them safe.

Kurdish parties in Kurdistan Region continue their campaign for Iraq parliamentary elections to be held on May 12 2018. Our correspondent Ahmad Ghafur reports on the latest from the capital of Kurdistan Region, Erbil/Hawler.

We sopoke to political analyst Mr Ahmad Eskandari about the parliamentary elections in Iraq next month and whether the Kurds will benefit anything from this election. As well as that topic we also spoke to Mr Eskandari about the US’s pull-out of the Iran nuclear deal. During the conversation with Mr Eskandari we spoke about the human rights situation in Iran and in particular about the treatment of the Kurds' in Iran.

Poet Mizgin Hesko was born in the village of Sheloumi near the city of Qamishlo in Syria. Ms Hesko migrated to Germany in 1996 due to some political issues with the Syrian regime. In the beginning, she wrote her poems in the Arabic language because the Kurdish language is legally forbidden to be taught in Syrian schools. Later on she started writing in Kurdish.
We spoke to Ms Hesko about her journey as a writer and the situation of female Kurdish writers in today’s society.
