Today’s guest is Rev. Dr. Anthony Bailey of Parkdale United Church, Ottawa. During this engaging conversation, Anthony is interviewed by CBS Ambassador Andrew Stirling on topics about Scripture, pastoral leadership, the need for the Church in Canada, as well as Anthony's passion for issues of justice and racial reconciliation.

Anthony Bailey is the lead minister of Parkdale United Church in Ottawa. Originally from Barbados, Anthony has lived and served in various parts of Canada, in Kenya and Jamaica. Anthony has academic degrees in social work, theology, philosophy of religion and ethics and culture. He has training in hospital ministry and has taught pastoral counselling at the McGill University joint theological colleges and at the theological college of the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. Anthony is also an occasional lecturer at the Ottawa School of Theology and Spirituality and has been a guest lecturer at Queen’s University School of Religion. 

Anthony Bailey is a sought-after preacher, speaker and worship/workshop leader throughout North America and the Caribbean. He has been awarded the Dreamkeepers’ Martin Luther King Jr. Life Achievement Award for Racial Reconciliation and the Order of Ottawa.

Today’s guest is the Senior Pastor of Sanctus Church, Rev. Dr. Jon Thompson and we will be discussing how he approaches Scripture as someone who is known for his preaching. What is the difference between preparing Scripture to teach versus for our own personal reading? In this episode we also discuss how to untangle difficult passages for ourselves, and what to do when we change our minds, or disagree with other Christians on a theological issue.

Jon Thompson is the Senior Pastor of Sanctus Church, a multi-site church in the Greater Toronto Area (formerly called C4 Church or Carruthers Creek) where he has been an integral part of the pastoral staff for more than 20 years. Under Jon’s leadership, Sanctus is characterized by dynamic Biblical teaching, vibrant community groups, compelling media, and powerful times in worship.

Jon speaks and teaches globally and has authored a number of books including Convergence. He has a Doctorate of Missiology from Fuller Seminary, California and is an adjunct professor at Tyndale University. Jon is husband to Joanna Eaton Thompson and father to three kids. As a family they are fond of great Thai food, strong coffee, the latest technology gadgets, trips to the East Coast, concerts, and Netflix.

Sunder Krishnan served at Rexdale Alliance Church in Toronto for 36 years. His primary calling in retirement is to preach and mentor the next generation while mobilizing intercessors for the Great Commission. Sunder was born in India and grew up in the capital city, New Delhi. He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology and received his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and worked with Atomic Energy of Canada. Sunder and his wife, Shyamala, have been married since 1971. They have two grown children, Vijay and Sheila, and six grandchildren.

Anatoliy Raychynets was born into a Christian family of clergymen, from his childhood Anatoliy watched his father and grandfather serve the church during the harsh times of the Soviet regime. He majored in Practical Theology from the Smyrna Theological Seminary in Norway and obtained a master’s degree from the Transcarpathian State University in Country Studies and Foreign Language Translation. Anatoliy majored in World History from the Uzhhorod National University. His thesis was on the topic "Conceptual foundations of Christian-Muslim theological dialogue".  

He has been serving the Ukrainian Bible Society since 2001 in various roles and is the author of the book "Raised by God" about the leaders of Protestant evangelical denominations.

After a historic 70-year reign, HM Queen Elizabeth II passed away September 8, 2022. The outpouring of love, grief and reflection that has echoed around the world is a testament to her enormous impact and legacy. She led with grace and poise through tumultuous changes in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth but was also very public about how her faith in Christ helped her through difficult times. 

Her Royal Majesty has been the patron of the British and Foreign Bible Society. In this special podcast, seasoned journalist Lorna Dueck interviews a panel of 3 expert guests about the life and faith of Queen Elizabeth II. 

Our guests are Hon. David Onley who, as Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, served as the Queen’s Representative and hosted her Majesty in Ontario during the Queen’s last visit to Canada in 2010.

Rev. Dr. Andrew Stirling has followed the faith of the monarchy since learning his own great great grandfather was the Welsh Poet for Queen Victoria. Andrew’s great uncle was the moderator of the Church of Scotland of which Queen Elizabeth was the Monarch. Andrew is The Canadian Bible Society Ambassador and has just concluded 23 years as Senior Minister at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church.

We are also joined by A. Larry Ross, a renowned publicist who helped facilitate the relationship between Her Majesty the Queen and Rev. Billy Graham. Mr. Ross was present on several occasions when Rev. Graham was with the Queen, and when Rev. Graham preached to the Royal Family.
