Christina chats with Ashley-Nichole who shares her experience of having multiple stepmoms and how it's shaped her role as a stepmom to her two bonus-daughters. They discuss holding the title of "stepmom" without a marriage certificate, finding her "place" in her home and what led her to writing a children's book, "Wicked Awesome Stepmother". Disney did us dirty, but Ashley-Nichole is confronting that narrative! Listen in!
About My Guest:
Ashley-Nichole was raised by her mother and stepmother in Ft. Myers, Florida, but it wasn't until she became a stepmom, herself, that she drew inspiration for her first children's book, Wicked Awesome Stepmother. She is passionate about creating stories that will give a voice to children and families of non-traditional backgrounds by sharing messages of inclusion, understanding, empathy and kindness. She loves to travel and has been to over 44 countries ''and counting.'' Her childhood passion for travel led her to pursue a career as a Flight Attendant, a position she has held with Delta Air Lines for over fifteen years. She currently resides in Newnan, Georgia with her partner, Eric, and her two bonus-daughters.
