Digital systems in ports help to boost efficiency and cut emissions by eliminating time consuming paperwork and opportunities for human error. Nuno Nunes, Associate Partner and VP Americas at HPC Hamburg Port Consulting joins host Gary Howard to explore the topic and the beneficial impacts Maritime Singles Windows and Port Community Systems have beyond the port environment.

Speaking to the Seatrade Maritime Podcast he says, “Newbuilding contracting in 2024 was exceptional. It's probably going to go down as the second highest ever  year of contracting with around 125 million gross tonnage ordered over the course of 12 months.”

The tanker sector was unexpectedly weak in the fourth quarter of 2024 and faces a growing supply of tonnage and slower demand growth this year.

Dry bulk shipping overall enjoyed a better year than expected in 2024, however Q4 saw a sharp dip in market fortunes, so where are we headed in 2025?
