California Governor Gavin Newsom is a man consumed by ambition. He wants to become president and impose nationwide the radical leftist policies that have “fundamentally transformed” – and devastated – his state.

Look no further than Newsom’s welcome of millions of illegal immigrants to California. The increasingly unsustainable costs, both financial and societal, for that state are a cautionary tale for the rest of the country. Yet the Governor – like his fellow Democrats in Sacramento and Washington – has pretended the endless influx of so-called “non-traditional migrants” is no problem. Until now.

This week, Gavin Newsom acknowledged that the present approach to immigration “is not working” and the vast human surge being invited by imminently ending federal pandemic- related restrictions would “break” his state. If even he is sounding the alarm, we must shut down the border now – not persist in policies that are breaking America.

There’s been a lot of loose talk lately, mostly from Team Biden, about the “death of democracy.” Generally, they are using that phrase to attack, and suppress, citizens who seek to Make America Great Again.

A real threat to our constitutional Republic – and the process by which its government of, by and for the people operates – is in evidence, but coming from different quarters.

First, election mechanisms susceptible to fraud have been disenfranchising legal voters. Second, the open southern border is changing the U.S. electorate.

Now, Democrats on Capitol Hill, with the help of some Republicans, are effectively negating the 2022 midterms by enacting a so-called “omnibus bill,” enabling the outgoing Congress to lock in spending and other priorities for the first year of the next one, supposedly under new management.  

We must stand up for democracy or kiss it goodbye.

Basketball star Brittney Griner is back in the USA, her freedom from a Russian jail bought with the release of Viktor Bout, a notorious arms trafficker nicknamed “the Merchant of Death.” Presumably, he’s back in business and almost certainly working to help his friend and liberator, Vladimir Putin, replenish the Kremlin’s depleted stocks of weapons for use against Ukraine, adding to the blood of countless victims already on Bout’s hands. 

 As it happens, this ransom was paid shortly before the arrest of a Libyan intelligence officer named Mohammad Mas’ud accused of building the bomb that killed 230 people when it blew up Pan Am 103 thirty-four years ago. 

 With the Biden administration rewarding those who take Americans hostage, what are the chances that someone in Libya’s failed state will try to grab one of us to free Mas’ud next?

Just before the 2020 election, 51 former intelligence officials falsely claimed that Hunter Biden’s laptop was a Russian disinformation operation. Thanks to Elon Musk, we now know that Twitter colluded with Joe Biden’s campaign, the Democratic Party, the mainstream media and the FBI to prevent American voters from learning the truth – namely, that the Democrats’ presidential nominee and his family had knowingly taken millions of dollars from Chinese intelligence officers.

A patriotic former U.S. spy named “Sam” Faddis – who recruited and ran foreign agents for America for many years – is convinced that, as a result of this collective betrayal of the public trust, we elected as president a “controlled asset” of Chinese intelligence.

 

The new House of Representatives must make exposing and evaluating the potentially catastrophic national security repercussions of such a dangerous penetration – and taking corrective action – its first order of business.

Chinese leaders profess that “Nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.” A powerful Committee on the Present Danger: China webinar yesterday made clear, however, that the CCP actually believes it can fight and win a nuclear conflict – and is preparing to do so.

This conclusion was reinforced by recent official reports to Congress about developments in China’s nuclear arsenal. One that is likely an underestimate says the PRC is tripling its size. Another classified document reportedly assesses China now deploys more long-range land-based missile warheads than we do.  

We have no counterparts to the CCP’s vast tunnels for protecting and hiding its missiles, submarines and bombers and for moving and sheltering leadership and civilian populations. Ditto its hypersonic weapons designed for preemptive strikes.

Clearly, we must urgently upgrade our nuclear deterrent – and augment it with effective missile defenses.

Global elites have long sought to establish control over the rest of us. Today, Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum is pursuing a “Great Reset” explicitly designed to do just that.

There is, however, another such effort underway at the moment – one in which the Biden administration is officially engaged behind closed doors. The venue is backroom negotiations conducted by the World Health Organization. That’s the supranational entity that endorsed Xi Jinping’s totalitarian “China Model,” which responded to the Wuhan virus with mandatory lockdowns, vaccinations and digital “passports” that have helped kill over a million Americans.

The closest thing to oversight of the WHO’s incipient “Digital Gulag” was an informal hearing convened yesterday by Senator Ron Johnson to examine the pandemic and those who exploited it. Secret efforts to institutionalize and perpetuate the recent horrors must be halted, and rigorously investigated.

Eighty-one years ago today, a hostile power executed with extreme stealth and deadly skill an attack that devastated the U.S. military in the Pacific and thrust this country into World War II. We are now at risk of an imminent, and far more decisive, reprise at the hands of a vastly more formidable adversary, the Chinese Communist Party.

This danger looms at the moment especially because the Biden administration is doing everything it can to invite the CCP’s aggression. A Commander-in-Chief deeply compromised by our enemy has weakened and divided our country from the border to Washington, D.C. He’s demoralized, distracted and defanged our military. And he has basically done nothing to defend Taiwan.

This is no drill. Will we swiftly act to make the costs of the next “surprise” attack intolerably high to the Chinese Communists, or needlessly suffer them ourselves?

Someone shot up two transformer substations in North Carolina Saturday night, plunging 40,000 Americans into the dark and cold for at least a few more days. It comes at a time when Vladimir Putin is doing the same to millions of Ukrainians, destroying their electric grid, however, in ways that will make blackouts this winter protracted and, for many, deadly.  

 I was present last night when Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the Institute for the Study of War, a group that has assiduously documented the serial Russian invasions of his country and makes the case – as did their honoree – that it is fighting our common enemy and requires continued Western support.  

 The evening’s inspiring theme was that the plucky Ukrainians will go without power – and even food and water – rather than submit to Putin’s aggression. Their allies may face the same prospect.

There was a time when national security was taken seriously in the United States. Every government employee was held to their solemn oath to preserve and defend the Constitution. It was unimaginable that a hostile power would succeed in suborning the President and large numbers of other officials. Back then, the FBI would have investigated and arrested anyone “elite captured” by a foreign foe.

By contrast, we just received confirmation from the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, that such practices – which amount to necessary measures to assure the survival of our Republic – no longer pertain.

We now know that the FBI colluded with the Democratic Party, the Biden 2020 campaign, the media and Twitter to avoid triggering the American people’s traditional national security-mindedness, lest it crush their favored, CCP-compromised candidate.

There must be accountability for such criminal and dangerous malfeasance.

At the UN Climate Change conference in Egypt last month, the U.S. delegation led by Climate Czar John Kerry committed this country to assume partial responsibility for the warming of our planet – and to pay what amount to reparations to “developing” nations portrayed as victims of intense weather and other consequences of rising temperatures.

The absurdity – to say nothing of the outrageousness – of this initiative was powerfully illuminated in a webinar yesterday sponsored by our Committee on the Present Danger: China. One of its highlights was a stunning observation: Communist China’s emissions of carbon dioxide – the gas climate alarmists insist is imperiling our planet and the human race – exceed those of the United States, the European Union and India combined.

The new Congress must repudiate Team Biden’s promise to pay the Chinese Communist Party climate reparations. Not a red cent.
