The plot sounds like something plucked from a spy thriller. Two operatives claiming to be U.S. security personnel, but suspected of ties with foreign enemies, were recently arrested. They had stashed a small arsenal in a luxury apartment near the U.S. Capitol from which they were cultivating relationships with White House Secret Service personnel.

Who Haidar Ali and Arian Taherzadeh are working for is unclear at the moment. But they may be part of an Iranian plot to exact revenge for the liquidation of the mullahs’ top terrorist, Qassem Soleimani. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is among those reportedly being targeted for assassination.

Incredibly, a magistrate named Michael Harvey rejected prosecutors’ request to jail these suspects, instead releasing them to home detention. Since an inside tip foreshortened the investigation into their operation, we cannot fully assess the danger of doing so.

Of all Joe Biden’s wrecking operations, the one that may do the most enduring damage is his destruction of our southern border. Since he became president, 3 million illegal aliens have gained access to our country, the largesse of its social safety net and the opportunity – if they choose to do so – to wage war inside in communities across the country to which they have been dispersed.

With every state now reeling from the cumulative effects of these invaders, their governors have not only the duty, but the clear constitutional authority to act. Unfortunately, scarcely any have done so.

One of them, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, however, recently created leverage with Mexico – and the Biden team – to secure the border by imposing time-consuming and economically disruptive safety checks on incoming foreign trucks. Much more needs to be done, but it’s a start.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg will not be spending some $400 million to “facilitate” this year’s election. His decision may have had something to do with last week’s roll-out of a powerful video indictment of the impact of a similar donation by Zuckerberg and his wife in the 2020 race.

The movie is called “Rigged: The Zuckerberg Funded Plot to Defeat Donald Trump.” It documents how so-called “ZuckBucks” lavished primarily on local election officials in Democratic districts – involving, in some cases at least, actually staffing their balloting operations – had the predictable effect of corrupting the results.

Zuckerberg may spend millions more this year on what he calls an alliance for “election excellence.” But he better be very careful: So far, eight states have banned the sort of “philanthropy” he engaged in last cycle. And there’s talk he may face prosecution for undermining election integrity.

President Biden announced yesterday a new initiative, ostensibly in response to surging violent crime rates across the country. Its centerpiece is a set of new restrictions on so-called “ghost guns” – a made-up descriptor for home-made weapons. The object, though, is called a “gun-grab.”

This is problematic on two scores. First, interfering with legal gun ownership is a hardy perennial of the Left, which understands the freedom to bear arms enshrined in our 2nd Amendment to be the ultimate check on its ambitions to “fundamentally transform” America.

Second, Joe Biden has acknowledged that he’s opting to use “regulatory action” because he cannot secure the congressional majorities needed to grab guns legally. Using unconstitutional means to impose unconstitutional restraints on Americans’ freedoms only compounds the unacceptability of the President’s gambit.

Reject this latest lurch towards tyranny, or expect more of it soon.

It is often said that “Elections have consequences.” Rarely, though, has an election in one country had more profound consequences for another than the change from Donald Trump to Joe Biden has had on Israel.

Before President Trump left office, the Jewish State had benefited greatly from his commitment to its sovereignty, security and right to defend itself against Iran and allied terrorists. And Mr. Trump denied the Palestinians a veto over improved relations between Israelis and Arabs willing to make peace.

Team Biden, by contrast, has repeatedly undermined Israel and those who share its determination to counter the threat they all face from an incipient nuclear-armed Iran. He has, moreover, emboldened the mullahs with promises of perhaps another 150 billion dollars. And he’s renewed the Palestinians’ conviction that they can wage jihad against the Jews with impunity.

This won’t end well.

Conventional wisdom, supported by recent polling, says Republicans will succeed in taking back the House and possibly the Senate in November’s elections. The Senate’s GOP caucus yesterday showed how they can still lose.

Rather than utilize the full thirty hours afforded them for post-cloture debate on the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court, every single one of the fifty Republican Senators acquiesced to a sharply truncated discussion of her radical record and problematic judgment.

Three of them actually voted for Judge Jackson’s confirmation. Knowing they would, the rest opted to vote “No” quickly, and then go on vacation.

They thereby missed an historic teachable moment – failing to inoculate the Supreme Court against Justice Jackson’s expected hard-leftist activism and alienating voters seeking representatives who will relentlessly stand and fight for their values and freedoms.

House Democrats have just added to the list of partisan opponents they are determined to defame, bankrupt and otherwise destroy. 

Their majority yesterday endorsed the January 6th Committee’s request for criminal prosecution of two more of President Donald Trump’s key subordinates, his Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino and trade adviser Peter Navarro. Others may yet be added to the list that already includes former Trump strategist Steve Bannon and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

Let’s get real: January 6th was not an insurrection. The committee investigating it is not legal. The prosecutions they seek are aimed at taking out the Democrats’ political targets, not getting to the truth.

And, most importantly, the committee is obscuring, not pursuing, evidence that what actually occurred that day was officially-sponsored “direct action” – not an attempt by Trump supporters to overthrow the U.S. government.

Last night, Tucker Carlson announced a death watch for the Biden presidency. In one of the most insightful, and pathetic, video clips in American political history, he showed the President of the United States being shunned by former President Barack Obama and, God help us, future President Kamala Harris – and everybody else – at a recent White House event.

Think of it as “dead man shuffling.” 

Tucker not only confirmed what I said here ten days ago: “Joe must go.” He powerfully showed that to now be the consensus in partisan Democratic circles.

The chilling prospect of Kamala ascending and/or the curtain being pulled back on what is effectively Obama’s third term demands an urgent effort to identify and recruit a non-partisan vice president, someone of real accomplishment, with a robust national security background and who will promise not to run in 2024.

There’s something surreal about the unfolding nightmare along America’s southwestern border. As a direct result of Biden administration policies, roughly three million people from all over the world entered the United States illegally over the past 12 months.

200,000 of them entered in March alone. And that number will soon swell dramatically, thanks to President Biden’s recent elimination of pandemic-related restrictions.

Then, there are the roughly 125,000 mostly unvetted Afghans brought here by the U.S. government.

What is surreal is not just that the ominous social, economic, demographic and electoral impacts of this influx are being minimized. The fact that unaccompanied military-age men make up large percentages of these migrant populations suggests a literal invasion is underway, with potentially dire national security implications.

Will it take widespread violence here by such invaders before we awaken to this danger?

For several generations, the radical left has been relentlessly engaged in what cultural Marxists call “a long march through the institutions.” This program of political warfare has systematically penetrated and undermined virtually every pillar of our Republic in order, as Barack Obama put it, to “fundamentally transform the United States of America.”

The revolutionaries’ long march is now poised to reach the last hold-out: the Supreme Court. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is the choice of Black Lives Matters’ self-described Marxist leaders because she will be a champion of their subversive agenda of dividing Americans along racial lines, promoting toxic identity politics and undermining the “nuclear family.”

Judge Jackson’s radicalism is evident in her now-documented, inveterate leniency towards purveyors of child rape, torture and other forms of sexual abuse. She must not be allowed to begin fundamentally transforming the Supreme Court.
