What happened on the morning of June 13th 1980 in Wylie, TX?
In 1980 a small quiet town in Texas was uprooted with the news that a church going house wife was killed with an axe while her husband was out of town. As the story unravelled they came to find out that killer was their own Candy Montgomery, a Sunday school teacher beloved by all - how did this happen? Why did this happen?
A kiss that lead to an affair that led to tragedy for two families from Wylie, Texas.
This is a tragic story of several lives hit by confusion, misled by an ill equipped leader, who also suffered tragedy and angst within his own family. This is the negligent world of Steve Cartisano and the world he created that spiraled into hellish troubled teen camps that still exist today.
Attorney John Ray held a symposium in New York City and invited fellow collaborator, Rachael, along as he was presenting evidence she helped uncover.
Paul Schäfer was a German minister that absconded to Chile after child abuse allegations surfaced in Germany after WWII in 1945. He went on to found and lead an agricultural commune of 300 German immigrants called Colonia Dignidad located in Parral, Chile.
For over 40 years the gluttonous thirst for his sinful tendencies, led this evil man to abuse and torture the members of Colonia Dignidad, including sexually and physically abusing young children. Schäfer also maintained a relationship with Pinochet's military dictatorship and was involved in weapons smuggling and the torture and extrajudicial killings of political dissidents.
Rachael conducts and exclusive interview with ex-moonie Teddy Hose revealing his first hand experience living inside the cult and with the moon kids in New York.
If you thought mass marriages were radical - just wait until you hear what the legacy of the Unification Church, the son of Sun Myung Moon, is adding to the mix - Assault Rifles. Sean Moon, son of the late Sun Myung Moon, has branched off from the church created his own Rod of Iron ministry that not only promotes buying AR-15s - they want you to take it to church with you.
You know it's a cult when your followers get dubbed "The Moonies" - sounds like a great band from the 70s but beware - The Moonies were cult recruiters trolling college campuses deceptively indoctrinating unsuspecting college kids into the Unification Church one dinner party at a time.
Like so many Con-Man prophets, Sun Myung Moon, of course, heralds himself as Jesus 2.0 to his followers - known as "Moonies"
Moon started The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification in 1954 and the Unification Church became widely recognized for its well known mass weddings they call Blessing ceremonies. The Church has been criticized for its teachings, its social and political influence, excessive financial exploitation of its members with critics calling it a dangerous cult, a political powerhouse, and a business empire.
This is the Moonies.
The Deadly Sin this week is dedicated to Vilhjalmur Stefansson. Stefansson's con-man laden pride produced multiple failed Arctic expeditions and was ultimately responsible for sending five people unprepared and underfunded with a quarter of the rations they would need on an expedition to Wrangel Island north of Siberia where all but the crew's seamstress, Ada Blackjack, would perish in the harsh conditions.
This is the amazing survival story of Ada Blackjack.
