Jen intended to be a minister or spiritual teacher early in life. She never expected to end up studying sexuality or devoting her life to furthering research on the topic. However, after profound healing happened through intimacy with her partner, Jen was convinced that sex could restore your soul, that it could heal you emotionally. That’s what happened to her. After suffering from depression and anxiety much of her life, she found her symptoms were transformed through accessing altered states of consciousness during sexual intimacy. She sought to learn the science behind this phenomenon and began to study how the brain can be rewired by states of intense pleasure during lovemaking. Jen went on to graduate studies in psychology and sex therapy. She has now started an organization to bring together leading researchers to further our understanding of sex and nonordinary states of consciousness.
