  • The great birthday party divide

    Hey there!

On today’s show: Is James Corden the next to fall down to cancel culture? Plus, the celebrity baby boom, David Beckham’s massive Netflix’s deal, and the Kardashian birthday story that split Shameless listeners right down the middle. Is it a bit gross to celebrate your 40th birthday on a private island and post about it on social media, all in the midst of a pandemic? Or, should we just accept that rich people are going to live their very best lives, no matter what the rest of us are doing?

This week, Mich recommended Reputation Rehab on ABC iView. For our fellow Melbournians, Zara recommended listening out for the boisterous noises of lively pubs, restaurants, and busy roads. We’ve missed you, sounds!

Thank you so much to today’s sponsor, Maybelline New York. Check out their Fit Me Foundation right here.

    HEY THERE BOOK CLUB FRIENDS!

This month, we’re talking all about the critically acclaimed, worldwide bestseller from Swedish columnist and blogger Fredrik Backman - A Man Called Ove. Ove is the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. He’s also deep in the grips of grief after losing his beloved wife, Sonja. He doesn’t know it yet, but when a boisterous young family moves in next door, his life is about to change. A Man Called Ove was published in English in 2014 and has sold more than 2.8 million copies internationally. In 2015 it was even made into a movie.

Today on the show, Mich, Zara, and Annabelle break down why this book made them chuckle and cry in equal measure, as well as the standout characters and main takeaways from the book.

    Happy Monday lovely people!

On today’s show: The influencer who reportedly held up a Jetstar flight because she was busy shucking oysters, an examination of Blake Lively’s very confusing shoes, and then, a discussion on that scene in the new Borat movie. Finally, we do a deep dive on the most talked-about story of the week: Bec Judd’s now-infamous 'Free Melbourne' t-shirt.

This week, Zara recommended the movie ‘Brexit: The Uncivil War’ on Stan. Mich recommended watching ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’ on Amazon Prime.

  • IN CONVERSATION: Dolly Alderton

    Happy Thursday, Shameless pals!

Today, we bring you the electric Dolly Alderton. Dolly is a British columnist, author and podcaster, best known as the co-host of the widely popular current affairs podcast, The High Low. She is also the author of the bestselling memoir, Everything I Know About Love, but is now trying her hand at fiction, on the cusp of releasing her very first novel, Ghosts.

In this chat, Dolly explains what it's like to have half a million people know about her life - both the good parts and the ugly - in her twenties, and why she's so determined to protect her private life in her thirties.

If you’d like more from Dolly, grab her debut novel, Ghosts, here.

Enjoyed this chat? Well, we think you’ll also love our interview with Dolly's podcast co-host, Pandora Sykes.

  • The one where The Daily Mail breaks us

    HAPPY MONDAY FRIENDS!!!

On today’s show: The Fleetwood Mac and cranberry juice TikTok that has exploded online. Then, The Bachelorette’s relevancy problem and what to make of the rumours that Naya Rivera’s ex-husband and sister have become romantically linked in the wake of her death. And finally, two Daily Mail stories were published on the weekend that epitomise absolutely everything grotesquely wrong with the publication.

This week, Zara recommended listening to our upcoming In Conversation episode with (incoming clickbait!) a British writer we so admire. Mich recommended getting all your important, routine health check ups, as well as reminding your loved ones to do the same. She also suggested watching the David Attenborough documentary, A Life On Our Planet.

    Why hello there, listener friends!

Today, we bring you the very clever Cole Brown. Cole is a twenty-five-year-old author and writer who has just published his first critically acclaimed book, Greyboy. And then, how Cole feels sharing his most personal trauma with the masses, as well as his thoughts on the upcoming U.S. election.
