The provincial archives is celebrating it's 50th anniversary this year. Every Monday, Shift will visit with archives staff and find out about some of the precious items stored there, and the stories they tell about our province. This week, staff members introduce themselves, and a very old and rare photograph.

Doctors thought endovascular therapy was only effective if delivered to a stroke patient within six hours. Now, the Heart and Stroke Foundation revealed the treatment is so effective that patients who receive it within 24 hours may have a better outcome. Neurologist Dr. Dylan Blacquiere works at the Saint John Regional Hospital, one of the treatment centres that provided essential data for the therapy.

Biologists in Maine pulled a mother bear and her two cubs from a den near Presque Isle on Friday. The bears were previously disturbed and had to be relocated. John Holyoke, outdoors editor with the Bangor Daily News, was on site documenting the day.

The Dr. Oetker pizza manufacturing plant in Grand Falls is closing at the end of May, leaving 180 employees without a job. Severance packages were promised along with a $4 million community fund. But Grand Falls Mayor Marcel Deschênes said today's announcement still comes as a major blow to the community.
