In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika and Giana discuss episodes seven through nine of Kageki Shojo!!. Episode 7 raises questions about the validity of Sarasa’s and Akia’s romantic relationship. It also provides further proof that the sandwich method is the true golden rule of this good green Earth. Episode 8 gives Chika and Giana brain freeze when it comes to the concept of fans visiting a celebrity in the hospital. Kaoru’s and Sugi’s tragic love story brings on a rollercoaster of shoujo feels. In episode 9, The Superiors provide a lovely presence at Kouka, despite Chika’s (not Chika, but Chika in Kageki Shojo!!) actions fueling some bitterness.

Episode 4 brings Chika to the rainbow side as she finally sees the yuri vibes Giana was seeing way too early into episode 1. The ladies also struggle to have anything positive to say about an episode that so heavily sought to redeem Ai’s stalker. Episode 5 brings not only stronger yuri vibes, but a heaping scoop of rocky road when it comes to Ayako’s difficult personal journey after being body shamed by the tap teacher in a previous episode. In episode 6, Ai’s pureness in her pursuit of friendship dazzles Giana, and Sarasa’s boyfriend’s actions (or lack thereof) confuse and frustrate the girls.

“It’s so much easier and better to just be kind to people. We don’t know what everyone is going through unless they talk to us about it.” - Chika Supreme

“I’m trying to find the right balance between accepting the mistakes I’ve made - accepting my faults, but always trying to be better and grow. And I mess up. I mess up a lot. But it’s okay. Mistakes are allowed, even though they aren’t easy.” - Giana Luna

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika and Giana discuss the masterpiece of cinema that is A Silent Voice, also known as Koe No Katachi. In fact, they had so much to say about it, that this is going to be a two-parter episode! This incredibly moving film even inspired Giana and Chika to come up with a whole new segment: Rocky Road! When the waterworks start, it’s time to break out the rocky road. This first half of the ladies’ coverage of A Silent Voice includes a soft serve summary, some very yummy sprinkles on top, and a delectable serving of floats your boat. Chika gets vulnerable with us this week, and Giana fights both seasonal allergies and the urge to cry at every turn of this magnificent story.

“At the beginning of the film, before Shoya is going to jump to take his life, he snaps out of it because he hears fireworks... The film brings the fireworks back again, except, when we saw it with Shoya, he was snapping out of it. And then, Shoko was sort of snapping into it.” - Chika Supreme

“The path ahead could be dangerous. It could be scary. But... don’t you want to see what’s on the other side of it?” - Giana Luna

In this special episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika serve the writers of Maid Sama! their just desserts (in the form of a sundae, of course). After giving the show a lot of slack, specifically around the handling of Seika High School’s soft boy Vice President, Giana took it upon herself to write something sweet for everyone’s favorite cinnamon roll. Giana and Chika trade off reading chapters of this short, wholesome piece of fan fiction, and then discuss all of the symbolism and wacky ideas that went into its creation. It may have taken ten episodes of Shoujo Sundae, but justice has been had for Yukimura!

In episode 24, Usui and Hinata’s rivalry continues to build up.
