Training camp is in full swing for Arizona State Sun Devils football, which means we are beginning to form opinions and grab takeaways from what we see and hear. After the first week of fall practices, there have been a few things made apparent but none more so than transfer quarterback Jeff Sims. The veteran QB arrived in Tempe after spring practices and has been forced to learn the playbook quickly and adjust to a brand-new offense. There have been ups and downs, but Sims is impressing many and will make the quarterback battle a bit more interesting after we all believed that Sam Leavitt would walk away with the job. Meanwhile, running back Alton McCaskill is also turning heads and has some wondering whether or not he's the best back on the team. Then on defense, the freshmen defensive backs are all of that and a bag of chips. Rodney Bimage Jr., Chris Johnson Jr., and Tony-Lewis Nkuba are making plays at a high rate and will see the field quicker than you may think.
