A campaign launched this week by youth-led organisation Make It 16 is calling on the federal government to lower the legal voting age to 16.

Supporters of the push say that if 16- and 17-year-olds can drive, pay taxes and join the army, then they should also have the right to vote. Both major parties are saying it is not a priority.
