Ever heard someone talking about “BJJ” and wondered why they included the extra J? Well, that’s because they’re actually talking about the martial art, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Instead of, well.. you know.
We're guessing you - like most people - have one of those friends or distant associates who got heavily invested in the UFC craze over the last few years. They talk about MMA with so much passion, that you’d like to test their ability in taking a fist, square to the face.
These are typically also the kind to rant on about BJJ, saying things like, "It’s not a martial art, it’s a lifestyle” or “It doesn’t matter how hard you can hit if you’re trapped in an arm bar”. To be fair, you can only roll your eyes so many times, before your curiosity is finally piqued.
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a long list of celebrities that practice and rave about it! Joe Rogan, Robert Downey Jr, Jason Statham, Ashton Kutcher… Tom Hardy even won a BJJ fight recently (because being a very successful, good-looking actor isn’t enough apparently). And, not to forget, Chuck f**kin Norris!
With way less of a chance of being concussed than Muay Thai (episode 2 of this very podcast) BJJ, literally, couldn’t hurt to try.
