It goes without saying that The British Museum's 4-million piece collection of historical objects is one of the most unparalleled in the world. But for the last four years, it's been working hard on one project in particular: a brand new gallery dedicated exclusively to the Islamic world. Showcase's Miranda Atty went to see it for herself.

After spending seven months reading 171 books, the five judges tasked with awarding the Man Booker Prize met yesterday morning in a secret location to make their final decision. Eight hours later it was done. Out of 13 longlisted books, the final six were said to be brilliant works of penmanship. The authors, four female and two male, hailed from the US, UK and Canada. And although most critics were betting for 27-year-old Daisy Johnson's 'Everything Under' to win, 56-year-old writer Anna Burns won the Man Booker with 'Milkman'.

To find out how Anna Burns was chosen as this year's winner of the Man Booker Prize for fiction, Showcase is joined by Leo Robson. He was one of the five judges who brought their expertise together to chose who takes home the big prize.

The fall auction season is underway, which means art buyers are in search of new pieces to add to their collections. Although it was founded in the 1920s, Surrealism continues to impact the way the creative community approaches everything from films to music to writing and, of course, the visual arts. With its otherworldly settings and elements of surprise, Surrealism became an ingrained philosophy of the modern world. And now, an exhibition in Italy has brought all the Surrealist forefathers together to present this movement in an entirely new light.

Andrea Mantegna and Giovanni Bellini... Two masters of the Italian Renaissance were bound together by more than their talent. Mantegna married Bellini's half-sister, which would have a huge impact on both of their artistic careers. Now for the first time, London's National Gallery is offering a chance to see both painters' work side by side. Showcase's Miranda Atty brings us their story.
