After a year-long closure and a $6.8 million renovation, the historic Japanese Garden is set to reopen to the public on April 11, 2012, marking its centennial as one of the most beloved and iconic landscapes at The Huntington. Completed in 1912, it has attracted more than 20 million visitors since the institution opened to the public in 1928.The renovation project included the restoration of the Japanese House, a structure built in Japan around 1904. In these videos, members of the restoration team reflect on what the garden means to them.

Twain was practically bankrupt in 1894 due to a failed investment into a "revolutionary" typesetting machine. In an attempt to extricate himself from debt of $100,000 (equivalent of about $2 million in 2005) he undertook a tour of the British Empire in 1895, a route chosen to provide numerous opportunities for lectures in the English language. In Following the Equator, an account of that travel published in 1897, the author unmasks and criticizes racism, imperialism and missionary zeal in observations woven into the narrative with classical Twain wit. Of particular interest, historically, are Twain's references to Cecil Rhodes in Australia and South Africa, the in-depth description of "Thugs" and "Thuggee" in India and the Boer War period and diamonds in South Africa. Scavare a Roma è mettere in comunicazione mondi diversi: lo stesso Mundus, nella sua accezione verticale, connette il mondo ctonio, sotterraneo, alla sfera celeste.La terra, a Roma, è un tramite: si muove, viene rimossa per far spazio a suoli possibili, sedimenta il tempo in strati di rovine, innalzandosi, inabissando così il passato e disponendosi a future scoperte. A Roma convergono anche pietre e marmi scavati in tutto il Mediterraneo. Roma è anche una città di estrazione da sempre: il suo territorio contiene i principali materiali da costruzione, la pozzolana, il tufo, la selce, il travertino… scavati negli stessi siti fin dall’antichità. Dopo l’eccessivo sfruttamento moderno, molte di queste cave, riempitesi d’acqua, si stanno trasformando in luoghi rifugio per forme di vita vegetale e animale, autoctone e straniere, che qui configurano nuove relazioni ecologiche di rimedio al danno e di resilienza ai cambiamenti climatici.Per l’edizione 2024, con “Movimento Terra”, esploreremo luoghi che si sono trasformati nel tempo per l’azione antropica di movimentazione della terra, sia come pratica di “svuotamento” che di “riempimento”. Roma è un comune con elevatissima e diversificata attività estrattiva: sono tanti i siti “svuotati” per l’estrazione di tufo, pozzolana, ghiaia, travertino, selce. Per “riempimento”, intendiamo invece diverse attività quali la movimentazione terra nei cantieri, l’accumulo e la dispersione di inerti, le discariche abusive e quelle ufficiali. Pratiche di azione umana di riempimento e svuotamento di luoghi, poi dismessi, hanno generato ambienti sospesi tra inquinamento e rigenerazione spontanea, tra bonifica e risanamento naturale (natural remediation). Nuovi paesaggi artificiali che, nella storia geografica, ambientale e sociale della città, hanno costruito nuovi ecosistemi e nuove connessioni ecologiche.Nell’ambito del programma Settembre, Selvatico, Stalker, avviato nel 2020, il modulo propone di esplorare luoghi e modi con cui si generano questi ecosistemi urbani emergenti, intenti a rigenerare la biodiversità, e i rapporti tra questi e le comunità locali che ne prendono coscienza e partecipano al loro divenire creativo, immaginando strategie situate per difenderli dall’urbanizzazione incosciente, esplorando le possibilità di comprenderli, averne cura e narrarli.

It, more than any other work, gives an insight into the spiritual life of St. Ignatius. Few works in ascetical literature, except the writings of St. Teresa and St. Augustine, impart such a knowledge of the soul.The saint in his narrative always refers to himself in the third person, and this mode of speech has here been retained. Many persons who have neither the time, nor, perhaps, the inclination, to read larger works, will read, we trust, with pleasure and profit this autobiography. Ignatius, as he lay wounded in his brother's house, read the lives of the saints to while away the time. Touched by grace, he cried, "What St. Francis and St. Dominic have done, that, by God's grace, I will do." May this little book, in like manner, inspire its readers with the desire of imitating St. Ignatius. This autobiography is a valuable key for the understanding of his Spiritual Exercises. Retrouve nous deux fois par mois, on donne une voix aux jeunes qui sont dans le milieu de la modeque ce soit des hairstylists, photographes, makeup artists etc... à travers des interviews. Chaque invité aura l'opportunité de raconter leur parcours et expérience dans le milieu pour inspirer les jeunes. 
Le but c'est d'encourager la jeunesse à entreprendre et à se lancer dans leurs projets via le contenu que l'on propose. Et bien sûr de mettre en avant les métiers de l'ombre car la mode c'est très large, il y a tellement différents de domaines que c'est intéréssant de découvrir toutes ses facettes de ce monde.
