As a girl, Lady Duff-Gordon was noted both for her beauty and intelligence. As an author, she is most famous for this collection of letters from Egypt. Lady Duff-Gordon had tuberculosis, and went to Egypt for her health. This collection of her personal letters to her mother and her husband. By all accounts everyone loved her, and the letters are very personal in style and content. The letters are as much an introduction to her person as a record of her life on the Upper Nile.

The Reverend Sabine Baring Gould was an exceptional parson and squire from Devonshire, England.&nbsp; He is probably best remembered as the composer of the hymn 'Onward Christian Soldiers'. Born in Exeter in 1834, he died at his estate, Lewtrenchard Manor in West Devon, in 1924. As 2024 is the centenary of his death it gives me the opportunity to spotlight what he considered to be the most important achievement of his life, that of collecting the old folk songs of Devonshire, and later Cornwall, as he termed it, 'from the mouths of the people'. Join me as I tell stories about, and sing songs from, this far from ordinary Victorian country parson as he travelled by pony and trap across his native Devonshire seeking out songs that now form a major part of the English folk song tradition.

Beneath its towering pines and ancient oaks, where the remaining snow gleamed like powdered silver, an unseen magic thrived. It moved through the trees with the gentle rustle of leaves, flowed along the rivers like a soft melody, and shimmered in the moonlight, known only to those who chose to see it.
Laté and Macchiato were no strangers to this magic. As Tonkinese siblings, their bond was unshakable. Laté, the elder sister with her confident, watchful blue eyes, was a natural leader.

The podcast is about living as a whole person and providing biblical soul care for individuals. Holistic living is an approach that considers the whole person, body, soul,/Spirit in the pursuit of health and well-being. This podcast will encourage individuals to make choices that promote harmony within the body and soul/Spirit. We have identified five dimensions of whole person-living: Physical, Psychological, Emotional, Spiritual, and Relational. The idea is that individuals have a soul, which must be healthy, before individuals can experience true well-being. The podcast focuses on nurturing the well-being of one's inner self or soul. The podcast helps to bridge the gap between spiritual and psychological aspects of a person's well-being, which can lead to living as a whole person. Spiritual and psychology are distinct fields with their approach and perspectives on exploring inner peace, but they can intersect. We will combine insight from both areas to encourage the power of Whole-Person living.&nbsp;

Er is geen stad in Nederland met zoveel beeldende kunst in de openbare ruimte als Rotterdam: een indirect gevolg van het verwoestende bombardement op 14 mei 1940. Tijdens de wederopbouw werden er honderden nieuwe kunstwerken geplaatst in de stad, om te herdenken, de leegtes op te vullen, en om de toekomst weer een nieuw gezicht te geven. Eén object dat het bombardement overleefde – een reusachtige gevelsteen aan de Bijenkorf van architect Dudok op de Coolsingel – raakt na de definitieve sloop van het gebouw in 1960 uit het oog verloren. Ruim veertig later wordt de steen echter herontdekt op een bedrijventerrein in Woerden. Met lezingen, presentaties, films, excursies en nu ook een podcast, wil CBK Rotterdam de bijzondere collectie kunstwerken in de publieke ruimte van Rotterdam onder de aandacht brengen en actuele ontwikkelingen bespreekbaar maken.

Er is geen stad in Nederland met zoveel beeldende kunst in de openbare ruimte als Rotterdam: een indirect gevolg van het verwoestende bombardement op 14 mei 1940. Tijdens de wederopbouw werden er honderden nieuwe kunstwerken geplaatst in de stad, om te herdenken, de leegtes op te vullen, en om de toekomst weer een nieuw gezicht te geven. Eén object dat het bombardement overleefde – een reusachtige gevelsteen aan de Bijenkorf van architect Dudok op de Coolsingel – raakt na de definitieve sloop van het gebouw in 1960 uit het oog verloren. Ruim veertig later wordt de steen echter herontdekt op een bedrijventerrein in Woerden. Een bijzondere terugreis naar Rotterdam volgde, waarbij deze stille getuige van een verdwenen stad, onderweg weer nieuwe betekenissen kreeg.
