Dr Luke Cooper, is an academic and scholar of international relations and politics from the United Kingdom, he is also the co-host of the “Another Europe” podcast. Luke was a Europe’s Futures Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna in 2018-2019. One of the projects that he worked on during his tenure was this series on Europe after 1989.

Beyond the taboo of discussing politics with your crazy uncle during family gatherings, I seek to discuss American government and public policy from scholarly perspective, but broken down so that anyone can digest it. I find that we get frustrated with government because we don't perceive it to "do what the people want", which is partially true. However, I think most of this frustration comes from misconceptions stemming from not fully understanding how government and public policy works. If we want the government to do what is best for us, we have to understand the rules of the game!

Les missions de l’IGEDD
L’Inspection générale de l’environnement et du développement durable (IGEDD) intervient dans les domaines "de l’environnement, du climat, du développement durable, de la transition écologique, du logement, de l’urbanisme, de la politique de la ville, de l’aménagement du territoire, du paysage, de la construction, de l’énergie, des transports, des risques naturels et technologiques et de la mer".
Elle contribue ainsi à la prospective, à la conception, au suivi de la mise en œuvre et à l’évaluation, à toutes les échelles géographiques, de ces politiques publiques. Elle assure également les missions d’audit et d’inspection des services du ministère.


Une mission d’autorité environnementale (Ae) (https://www.igedd.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/l-autorite-environnementale-r145.html) incombe en outre à l’Inspection générale de l’environnement et du développement durable (IGEDD), qui l’exerce par sa formation nationale et ses missions régionales (MRAe) (https://www.mrae.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/)


Une part croissante de ces missions sont réalisées par l’IGEDD conjointement avec d’autres conseils généraux ou inspections générales.
Ces activités se concrétisent par la production de rapports d’études (expertise, évaluation, aide à la décision), d’avis (sur tout document ou rapport) et de rapports d’inspection sur les domaines relevant des missions des sections.
