Fino al 1918 l’immenso complesso del palazzo imperiale che sorge nel cuore di Vienna fu il centro politico della monarchia. Oggi la Hofburg di Vienna assolve la medesima funzione per l’Austria democratica. Quei luoghi in cui un tempo l’imperatore Giuseppe II ideò il suo rivoluzionario programma di riforme, dove si celebrò il Congresso di Vienna e i leggendari balli che lo accompagnarono, e dove Francesco Giuseppe era solito concedere udienza, ospitano oggi il presidente della Repubblica federale, il cancelliere federale e i segretari di stato della Repubblica. Un biglietto d’ingresso unico permette d’accedere alle tre attrazioni che sono teatro dell’Austria imperiale. Le tradizioni della mensa imperiale sono documentate nel Museo delle argenterie di corte, con i suoi i sontuosi servizi da tavola, i magnifici centrotavola che misurano fino a trenta metri di lunghezza e le tovaglie d’inestimabile pregio. Il Museo di Sisi invita il pubblico ad un viaggio alla scoperta dei molteplici aspetti della personalità dell’imperatrice Elisabetta. I numerosi oggetti esposti, alcuni di essi squisitamente personali, ci aprono una visuale a 360° del mondo pubblico e privato di Elisabetta. Più che in ogni altro luogo al mondo, nel Museo di Sisi prendono forma la magia del mito di Elisabetta e il mistero di quella personalità fuori dal comune. Gli Appartamenti imperiali rivelano il mondo in cui visse la coppia imperiale più celebre dell’Austria. Le diciannove stanze che funsero da studio, appartamento e saloni di ricevimento per l’imperatore Francesco Giuseppe e la consorte Sisi, sono dotate di arredi storicamente autentici, e con il loro fascino discreto creano un contrasto interessante con il fasto e la pompa della residenza estiva, Schönbrunn.

Alain Wijffels (né en Suisse, 1954) a étudié à différentes universités en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas, en France et en Angleterre. Il a obtenu des diplômes en philosophie (Anvers), en droit (Anvers, Louvain), en criminologie (Louvain), en droit canonique (Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve), en droit romain (Paris-2) et en histoire médiévale (Louvain-la-Neuve). Il a défendu à l'Université d'Amsterdam une thèse de doctorat en droit sur les droits savants dans la pratique de la Cour de Hollande et du Grand Conseil de Malines aux XVe et XVIe siècles, puis une autre thèse (PhD) à l'Université de Cambridge sur la pratique de la Haute Cour de l'Amirauté à Londres vers la fin du XVIe siècle et au début du XVIIe siècle. L'université de Cambridge lui a également conféré le doctorat en lettres (DLitt) pour l'ensemble de ses travaux historiques.

Il est né en 1932. Fils du roi, il est prédestiné à une existence paisible faites de privilèges et de plaisirs. Il meurt assassiné le 13 octobre 1961. Fifth Word’s ‘See Me’ Podcast is a weekly show that will provide you with an insight into the lives of some of the most inspirational Muslim women living in Nottingham. 

The original interviews were recorded on camera between February- March 2024 by Muslim girls aged 12-15.  You can view the filmed interviews on each of the episode pages here, and in person at Nottingham Local Studies Library where they are archived for future generations to access. 

See Me celebrates inspiring women of Muslim heritage in Nottingham. Their stories, their voices, have been captured by the younger generation to be treasured.

This project was part of Fifth Word’s ‘SEE ME’ living history project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, in partnership with Nottingham Libraries and supported by Nottingham Playhouse. 

All episodes are available for free on major listening platforms. Some interviews contain sensitive subject matter including references to violence and racism.

From influencers and artists to teachers and even a firefighter, each episode will feature an interview between a young creative of Muslim heritage, and an inspirational Muslim woman from Nottingham.

The Cinnamon Bear is an old-time radio program produced by Transco (Transcription Company of America), based in Hollywood, California. The series comprised 26 episodes, and was specifically designed to be listened to six days a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas.[1]The series was first broadcast between Friday, November 26 and Saturday December 25, 1937. Some markets like Portland, Oregon, jumped the gun, debuting the program on November 25, Thanksgiving Day. In the first season, Portland broadcast the program on two stations, KALE at 6:00pm and KXL at 7:00pm.
