Back in the 17th century, the Habsburgs had a small summer palace on this site. However, this was destroyed during the second Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683. After the defeat of the Turks, Emperor Leopold I commissioned the Austrian Baroque architect Fischer von Erlach with the construction of a hunting lodge. Fifty years later Maria Theresa had Schönbrunn remodelled in the Rococo style by her court architect Nicolaus Pacassi. Here she spent the summer months together with the court household, which numbered more than 1,500 individuals. The imperial family also contributed personally to the furnishings and decoration of some of the rooms in the palace. This is just one of the features that make the history of the palace come alive today, telling the story of the changing fashions for interior design and the everyday life of the Habsburgs. Maria Theresa’s successors also left their mark on the palace, above all her great-great grandson, Emperor Franz Joseph, who was born in the palace and died here in 1916, after a reign lasting 68 years. When you get to the first floor, turn to the right, into the Herringbone Room. Through the window on the left you can look into a courtyard called the Grosser Kaiserhof, which is now part of the Children’s Museum. There you can find out about everyday life at the imperial court and try out some of these aspects for yourself. Through the open door you can look into the Aide-de-Camp’s Room. The main duty of the aide-de-camp was to ensure that the emperor was supplied with the latest military intelligence, which is probably why he was accommodated in close proximity to the imperial apartments.

As part of the exhibition »Radical Software. The Raindance Foundation, Media Ecology and Video Art«, the ZKM is hosting the »Raindance. Research and Development in Video Art and Media Ecology« Symposium on Saturday 1 July 2017. It will reunite the former members of the Raindance Foundation – video artists Frank Gillette, Beryl Korot and Ira Schneider as well as Hollywood producer Michael Shamberg – for the first time in a joint discussion group and will present lectures by renowned media theoreticians and scholars. The symposium will be moderated by Davidson Gigliotti.
In the early 1970s, the »Raindance Foundation« established itself as a pioneering protagonist of radical media critique and the promoter of a new democracy in the era of electronic mass media. Through theoretical and practical, experimental investigations of the medium of video, the aim was to create the prerequisites for individual self-determination and the construction of a democratic community. 
Inspired by theoreticians such as Gregory Bateson, »Raindance« developed the concept of a »Media Ecology«, a model for the description of the environment as an information-processing system, in which technical, social, psychological and aesthetic aspects are finally able to be handled as a whole. The »Radical Software« journal founded by Raindance in 1970 anticipated the future of the internet society with the words, »power is no longer measured in land, work or capital, but by access to information and the means to distribute it«. According to the claim, other social systems and individual lifestyles could only be developed by establishing alternative, decentralized information structures. 
Not least due to confronting workable models and methods to analyze and design an environment that is characterised by electronic communication media, these theses and experiments of the »Raindance Foundation« have a topical relevance for the current technological developments and accompanying social challenges, such as the relationship of social media and democracy, security, monitoring and individual freedom.

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung veranstaltet das ZKM am Samstag, 1. Juli 2017 das Symposium »Raindance. Research and Development in Video Art and Media Ecology«, das die ehemaligen Mitglieder der Raindance Foundation – die Videokünstler Frank Gillette, Beryl Korot und Ira Schneider sowie den Hollywoodproduzenten Michael Shamberg – erstmals wieder in einer gemeinsamen Diskussionsgruppe, moderiert von Davidson Gigliotti, vereint und Vorträge renommierter MedientheoretierInnen und WissenschaftlerInnen präsentiert.
In den frühen 1970er-Jahren etablierte sich die »Raindance Foundation« als wegweisender Akteur einer radikalen Medienkritik und Promoter einer neuen Demokratie im Zeitalter elektronischer Massenmedien. Durch theoretische und praktisch-experimentelle Untersuchungen des Mediums Video sollten die Voraussetzungen für individuelle Selbstbestimmung und die Gestaltung eines demokratischen Gemeinwesens geschaffen werden. 
Inspiriert von Theoretikern wie Gregory Bateson entwickelte Raindance die Vorstellung einer »Medien-Ökologie«, ein Modell für die Beschreibung der Umwelt als informationsprozessierendes System, in dem technische, soziale, psychologische und ästhetische Aspekte nicht mehr getrennt behandelt werden können. Die von Raindance 1970 gegründete Zeitschrift »Radical Software« antizipierte die Zukunft der Internet-Gesellschaft mit den Worten: »Macht wird nicht mehr in Land, Arbeit oder Kapital gemessen, sondern durch den Zugang zu Informationen und die Mittel zur Verbreitung«. Nur durch die Etablierung alternativer, dezentraler Informationsstrukturen, so die Forderung, könnten andere gesellschaftliche Systeme und individuelle Lebensstile entstehen.

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung veranstaltet das ZKM am Samstag, 1. Juli 2017 das Symposium »Raindance. Research and Development in Video Art and Media Ecology«, das die ehemaligen Mitglieder der Raindance Foundation – die Videokünstler Frank Gillette, Beryl Korot und Ira Schneider sowie den Hollywoodproduzenten Michael Shamberg – erstmals wieder in einer gemeinsamen Diskussionsgruppe, moderiert von Davidson Gigliotti, vereint und Vorträge renommierter MedientheoretierInnen und WissenschaftlerInnen präsentiert.
In den frühen 1970er-Jahren etablierte sich die »Raindance Foundation«&nbsp;als wegweisender Akteur einer radikalen Medienkritik und Promoter einer neuen Demokratie im Zeitalter elektronischer Massenmedien. Durch theoretische und praktisch-experimentelle Untersuchungen des Mediums Video sollten die Voraussetzungen für individuelle Selbstbestimmung und die Gestaltung eines demokratischen Gemeinwesens geschaffen werden.&nbsp;
Inspiriert von Theoretikern wie Gregory Bateson entwickelte Raindance die Vorstellung einer »Medien-Ökologie«, ein Modell für die Beschreibung der Umwelt als informationsprozessierendes System, in dem technische, soziale, psychologische und ästhetische Aspekte nicht mehr getrennt behandelt werden können. Die von Raindance 1970 gegründete Zeitschrift »Radical Software« antizipierte die Zukunft der Internet-Gesellschaft mit den Worten: »Macht wird nicht mehr in Land, Arbeit oder Kapital gemessen, sondern durch den Zugang zu Informationen und die Mittel zur Verbreitung«. Nur durch die Etablierung alternativer, dezentraler Informationsstrukturen, so die Forderung, könnten andere gesellschaftliche Systeme und individuelle Lebensstile entstehen.&nbsp;
Nicht zuletzt durch die Auseinandersetzung um tragfähige Modelle und Methoden zur Analyse und Gestaltung einer von elektronischen Kommunikationsmedien geprägten Umwelt haben die Thesen und Experimente der »Raindance Foundation« eine aktuelle Relevanz für die gegenwärtigen technologischen Entwicklungen und die damit einhergehenden gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen, wie das Verhältnis von sozialen Medien und Demokratie, Sicherheit, Überwachung und individueller Freiheit.&nbsp;

Working with products opened the door for his entrance into the entertainment industry where he works in TV, Film and Event Production, Acting, Show Hosting, Emceeing, Talent Managing, and now ministry. 

Joshua’s experience working in all aspects of healthcare, brand development, and entertainment allowed him to see the good, bad, and ugly in those industries and he knew something must change. Inspired by a Vision, Joshua set out to create a new kind of media company, one that focused on serving and elevating the passion, purpose and messages of those who do not have the resources that are needed to successfully carry out their missions. 

Joshua is blessed to be a part of and under the covering of Pastor Phillip Castillo from Word of God Church in Oklahoma City, Ok.
