  • Play Like a Girl: A women’s basketball tournament that was bigger than sports (04/06/22)
On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Meredith Hein welcomes in friends from around the LGHL, Ohio State, and sporting worlds to talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between.
Don’t call it a comeback! This week, Tia and Meredith got to discuss four exciting comebacks from across the sports world, including Colin Kaepernick, Thad Matta and Tiger Woods, plus the bonus return of Frank Gore to the San Francisco 49ers — at least for a day.
They also wrapped the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, which gave a second tourney title to the incredible Dawn Staley AND a platform for women athletes like Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Boston to do things that are bigger than sports. Maybe the NFL can start taking notes…
However, you’ll find no coverage of the men’s final, since Meredith and Tia can’t stay up that late.

  • Buck Off Podcast: Spring practice notes, The Foundation, and the blue bloods of college football
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” with Jordan Williams out this week we get into some of the biggest stories coming out of Ohio State’ Spring Practice.
This week during spring practice, Cade Stover moved back to tight end and we get into why this move will be beneficial. We take a look at why Stover potentially made this move and why this is not a problem of depth at the tight end position. We also discuss how this could mean the linebacker position is in a good place.
The other spring storylines we discuss include the new “Jack” linebacker position, and the king of the jungle. We also get into the offensive line and how the group can actually be the biggest factor in the offensive success.
After that, we discuss the new NIL Fund for Ohio State athletes and how this might impact the football program. We talk about the moral ambiguity of a charity dedicated to paying athletes and why this might be a little off putting to some. Then we get into the board members and how this can be beneficial for Ohio State, but won’t realistically change much.
Blue bloods are all the rave right now, so I give you the be all end all criteria of what makes a college football blue blood that was featured on The Athletic. After the criteria I get into my eight blue bloods, the teams that just missed the cut, and the teams that might be on the way out of blue blood status.
Lastly, I give you my Final Four predictions and start/join the #FadeCoachK brigade.

  • Bucketheads Podcast: Welcome to the Off-Season; Talking Transfers, Coaching Changes, NBA Draft (03/31/22)
Land-Grant Holy Land’s newest podcast, ‘Bucketheads’ takes you on a journey across the college basketball landscape every episode. The only basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world.
During this week’s episode, we catch up on all of the news that we’ve missed over the past two weeks. We start by giving a big picture look at Ohio State’s loss to Villanova in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Villanova was obviously the better, more well-coached team. But did the Buckeyes leave it all out there and give them their best punch? We think so.
We then discuss Malaki Branham’s future in Columbus — will the pain of this year’s tournament loss impact his decision at all? With Branham climbing mock drafts before the NBA combine even starts, it’s looking less and less likely that we will see him in an Ohio State jersey again.
We close by rambling about who we think will be filling the two vacant assistant coaching spots as well as which potential transfers Ohio State could go after. Will the Buckeyes add a former Ohio State point guard to their coaching staff who we’re already very familiar with? And will Holtmann and Diebler land a dynamic wing from the portal — a la a Terrence Shannon or Jalen Bridges?

  • Play Like a Girl: If you gave an Oscar for March Madness... (03/29/22)
On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Meredith Hein welcomes in friends from around the LGHL, Ohio State, and sporting worlds to talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between.
Welcome back! This week combined two of Meredith and Jami’s favorite things: brackets and award shows. What better way to recap the chaos of the first two weeks of the NCAA Tournament than with an Academy Awards of sorts? From Best Original Score to a Lifetime Achievement Award we don’t even have to guess at, there’s been plenty of Oscar-worthy performances en route to the Final Four.
And if you’re sad that the season of bracket-making is behind us, never fear: Jami and Meredith offer tips on other things you can bracket, including vacation destinations and french fry dipping sauces.

  • I-70 Basketball Show: Final Four Edition
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
After a forced week off due to technical issues the guys are back talking basketball in this weeks episode. Before talking March Madness they rank levels of basketball as a product, the NBA is clearly first and Men's college basketball is last. Find out why Dante and Jordan think Men's college basketball is the worst basketball product and what they rank above it.
The Men's Final Four is set and it's a who's who of NCAA blue bloods as the magnificent run by St. Peters is ended. In coach K's final year we get a showdown of the heavy hitters, Duke versus North Carolina and Kansas versus Villanova for all the marbles. Will Duke send Coach K into retirement with a national championship game appearance? If Duke win's is this proof that sports can be rigged? On the Women's side there is still one Big Ten team standing as Michigan has a game against Louisville for a sport in the Final Four. While we won't get an Iowa versus Uconn showdown the Women's final four will include South Carolina and Stanford. Uconn will have to upset No. 1 seed NC State tonight for a spot in the Final Four.
Dante let's out some frustrating as LeBron continues to stat pad while the Lakers are still losing. With two week left in the season the battle for the play in tournament is heating up. Will LeBron make first team All-NBA despite his teams record? Should Demar Derozan or Luka Doncic has a better shot at first team? In their weekly pit stops Jordan discuss his experience at the UFC event in Columbus this past weekend. Dante talks about Winning Time and why more people should watch it.

  • Buck Off Podcast: New Silver Bullets, Ohio State's Pro Day, and most interesting teams outside of Ohio State
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to about Ohio State’s exciting energy surrounding the defense.
This week during Spring practice the defensive line talked to the media and gave us a ton of exciting stuff to talk about. We discuss Jack Sawyer’s expectations for the defense and how complacency got in the way last year. We also talk about Jerron Cage discussing the new vibes and Tyliek Williams becoming a more well rounded player.
After that, we discuss the Pro Day for the Buckeyes who participated. Master Teague flashed incredible athleticism and many of the unsung guys got to make some noise in front of NFL evaluators. The real winner of the Pro Day was none other than C.J. Stroud who made a huge impression on the scouts in the building. Once we get back from the break we discuss why NFL evaluators are so bad at evaluating quarterbacks and we give some important analysis on the position itself.
Keon Keeley visited which leads to a conversation about Notre Dame’s recruiting strategy and why this recruitment is an important battle in the midwest. Notre Dame fans are confident, but we give them quite a few reasons why they shouldn’t feel like Keeley is a lock. With recruiting we then go on a long tangent about quarterbacks in 2023 and 2024 classes and how Ohio State will recruit them.
Lastly, we discuss the most interesting teams to us in college football outside of Ohio State. We discuss why some big programs might be fraudulent.

  • Play Like a Girl: Confessions of the Worst of Our Brackets (03/22/22)
On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Meredith Hein welcomes in friends from around the LGHL, Ohio State, and sporting worlds to talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between.
Welcome back, folks, happy March Madness and happy first week of Spring! As Ohio State fans, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament might not have brought us the results we wanted after the opening weekend, but there was no shortage of drama as the field of 68 was whittled down to just 16. Fortunately, the Ohio State women showed up in the first round with a win over Missouri State.
While the maddest of the madness might be behind us, this weekend brings three 15-seeds between the men’s and women’s tourneys competing in their respective Sweet Sixteens.
Nothing is guaranteed: On the men’s side, three of four one-seeds remain, but all got pushed in the second round and have tough roads ahead. Go figure, there are no more perfect brackets — Meredith’s and Megan’s included.
