Also, what comes next for the Buckeyes? They will face the winner of No. 2 Villanova and No. 15 Delaware on Sunday at a time to be determined.

  • Buck Off Podcast: Ohio State vs. Loyola, positions with most questions, and scholarship limits
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to about Ohio State’s chances in the NCAA Tournaments.
We begin the show discussing the Ohio State’s match up against Loyola-Chicago and how the expectations for the Buckeyes are anyone’s guess. We talk about their injuries and how the Buckeyes getting just healthy enough could lead to a run. Then we finish off with why March Madness is the best.
After that, we get into a discussion about the biggest question mark position groups on the roster. The Buckeyes have a loaded roster and tons of talent, but there are a few position groups we just don’t fully have a picture for. We ask some questions and try to answer them.
Then we get into the scholarship limit and why the Buckeyes will probably need to see some people leave before Fall camp starts. We list off some players and discuss the positions and players that we don’t see having clear paths to playing time.
Lastly, we discuss the schedule for the Buckeyes and we get into the first four games of the season. We talk about expectations for Notre Dame under Freeman, the two pay games, and why opening up with Wisconsin in conference play should be incredibly interesting.

  • Play Like a Girl: Some kind of (March) Madness is swallowing me whole (03/17/22)
On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Meredith Hein welcomes in friends from around the LGHL, Ohio State, and sporting worlds to talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between.
Welcome back, folks, and happy March Madness! We’re so excited to celebrate spring weather, St. Patrick’s Day and even Daylight Savings time, because it all means that the NCAA Tournament is just days away.
And what a tournament it will be! Will Coach K make a last run at a championship? Does a Big Ten team have a shot at the title? Can Ohio State even get past the first round? All questions we need answers to…
It doesn’t hurt that March is also Women’s History Month, and we get to mark the occasion with a historic NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament featuring 68 teams — including an Iowa squad that looks poised to go all the way.

  • Bucketheads: Previewing Ohio State's First Round NCAA Tournament Game Against Loyola-Chicago (03/17/22)
Land-Grant Holy Land’s newest podcast, ‘Bucketheads’ takes you on a journey across the college basketball landscape every episode. The only basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every Thursday morning throughout the regular season.
During this week’s episode, we thoroughly discuss seven-seed Ohio State’s matchup with 10-seed Loyola Chicago in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Clearly, the Buckeye fanbase is pessimistic about this game and many folks don’t see Ohio State advancing to the round of 32. But are there reasons to be optimistic?
Connor and Justin explain why E.J. Liddell should have plenty of space to make plays and why feeding Zed Key (if healthy) early and often will be critical to the Buckeyes’ chances of advancing. They also analyze the intriguing coaching matchup between Chris Holtmann — who has made the tournament every season with Ohio State — and first-year Loyola-Chicago head coach Drew Valentine, who is coaching in his first NCAA Tournament.
They then look at the reasons to be concerned about this game. Can Ohio State stop Loyola’s two star guards from blowing right past them, as has been the issue in recent weeks? Will they get the production from Joey Brunk and Key that they need to dominate the glass, and can they take advantage of a weak rebounding team and give themselves second-chance opportunities?

  • Bucketheads Podcast: Filling out the 2022 NCAA Tournament bracket
During this bonus episode, we analyzed every single game in the 2022 NCAA Tournament and filled out our brackets at the same time. Some games we had very valid justification for, and others....not so much. But that’s the whole fun of it, right?
Tune in to see which 13-seed Justin has winning a massive upset, which 11-seed Connor has making a run to the Sweet 16 and which teams each guy has beating Baylor in the East region (spoiler: neither of them have the Bears coming out of that corner).
They also tease the upcoming Ohio State episode, and confirm that Land-Grant Holy Land will in fact be doing another bracket challenge for this year’s NCAA Tournament. If it isn’t out yet, keep an eye out for it!

  • LGHL Uncut: Chris Holtmann previews first-round matchup with Loyola-Chicago
On Wednesday, March 16 Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann met with the media to preview seven-seed Ohio State’s first-round NCAA Tournament matchup with 10-seed Loyola-Chicago in Pittsburgh.
He gave an update (kind of) on Zed Key and Kyle Young’s health, and went into detail about what make’s Loyola’s defense so effective, especially against the pass. He praised Loyola guard Lucas Williamson, saying he is “Without a doubt an NBA player.” He also gave insight into how much last season’s first-round loss weighs on the team heading into this game, and the differences between last season and this season.
Finally, the Ohio State head coach talked about Malaki Branham, and how much weight has been put on the Big Ten Freshman of the Year’s shoulders. He conceded that sometimes his slenderness/slight frame makes it difficult for him to guard bigger, physical guards, “He’s an 18 year old kid, and sometimes the size and strength is a problem. He’s 18, there’s not a ton he can do to fix that right this second.”

  • I-70 Basketball Show: Selection Sunday Edition
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
It's selection Sunday which means it is officially March Madness!! Nine Big Ten teams made the Men's tournament led by No. 3 seeds Purdue and Wisconsin. Six teams made the Women's tournament led by No. 2 Iowa. Dante and Jordan have much more faith in the Women making a run versus the Men. Despite having nine teams in the tournament the guys are predicting that up to six could lose during the first weekend. Can the Iowa Women's basketball team make a run to the finals? Jordan is hoping for a Caitlyn (Curry) Clark showdown versus UConn’s Paige Bueckers.
The Big Ten tournament has wrapped up with Iowa beating Purdue 75-66. Congratulations to Iowa University for winning the Men's and Women's basketball tournament. It's been a banner year for the Hawkeyes as the Football team won the West Division and earned a spot in the Big Ten Championship game. College Football has slowed down, but the NFL never stops, the guys get into the Russ Trade, Brady's return to football and the other news that broke this week.
In their weekly pitstops Jordan discussing Kent State making the Mid-American Conference basketball championship game only to be blown out by 20 points after having four players suspended for a social media video dissing Akron. Dante talks about the ridiculous number of NBA players dropping 50+ points in games this march.

  • Buck Off Podcast: Men's mental health, Spring Practice, and the Jim Knowles effect
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to talk about Ohio State’s offseason the guys get into a discussion about mental health after the Harry Miller announcement.
We begin the show with a difficult discussion surrounding mental health, after Harry Miller’s announcement the importance of this conversation is in the fore front. We discuss the need for taking mental health seriously, respecting others, and we discuss how people have many internal battles that go unnoticed, so check on your people.
After that, we then discuss the concussions in college sports and how Treveyon Henderson highlighted the potential issues with concussion protocols. We talk about the challenges in diagnosing head injuries and how there’s no one size fits all approach to catching concussion symptoms.
Moving forward, we discuss the receiver position and how Ryan Day wants a rotation of 5-6 players. We discuss how loaded this room is and how the five players are pretty solidified, but we can’t count out some of the guys on the roster.
After that we discuss the players we think will surprise the most people after Spring, and why we think the players we chose are in for break out seasons. Two offense, two defense, and we get into a long talk about the positions.
Lastly, we discuss Jim Knowles and how he has already put quite a bit of the media into a blender.

  • Instant Recap: What does B1G Tournament loss say about Chris Holtmann’s OSU tenure? (03/10/22)
Following every Ohio State football and select basketball games, LGHL will be bringing you an instant recap and analysis breaking down the game and previewing what’s next for the Buckeyes.
The Ohio State men’s basketball Buckeyes followed a familiar script on Thursday night in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament. They got up to a 13-point lead in the first half before things slowly, but surely, slipped away after halftime. Chris Holtmann’s sixth-seeded squad ended up losing to 11th-seeded Penn State 71-68.
In a podcast recorded literally minutes after the latest OSU MBB collapse, Justin Golba and Matt Tamanini broke down the game, looked forward to the tournament, and discussed Holtmann’s status as the head coach of the program.
There’s no doubt that injuries to Kyle Young, Zed Key, and Meechie Johnson Jr. have hampered the Buckeyes’ ability to close the season on a more positive note, but the troubles that they’ve experienced down the stretch — second-half collapses, defensive inefficiences, and a roster without a reliable third scorer — have been on display all year.
So, do these repeated problems point to an issue with how Holtmann is running the program? Justin and Matt discuss that in the episode and more.
They also get into what needs to change — other than getting Young and Key back — for the Buckeyes to have any shot at winning a game or two in the Big Dance.
