  • LGHL Uncut: Wheeler, Ahrens, Holtmann Discuss Rock-Bottom Loss to Nebraska (03/01/22)
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions.
On this episode, Jamari Wheeler, Justin Ahrens, and Chris Holtmann discuss No. 23 Ohio State’s (18-9, 11-7) terrible, awful, no good, very bad loss to Nebraska (9-21, 3-16) Tuesday night. Despite leading for a portion of this game and rarely trailing by more than six or seven points, the Buckeyes were unable to string stops together to make up the deficit, falling to the Big Ten’s worst team on their home floor.
Wheeler and Ahrens had few answers to explain what contributed to the brutal loss. Wheeler said that the team simply did not come into the game with the focus needed for a game of this magnitude with Big Ten Tournament seeding on the line. They also mentioned that losing Kyle Young (plus Zed Key) was a killer, but that it was not why they lost this game.
Holtmann then took the loss on the chin during his time, saying that it is his fault that the team “is not connected on defense like they should be” this late in the season. He acknowledged injuries, but also acknowledged that there are a lot of things “that are correctible that need to be corrected.”
We also heard from the victorious coach, Fred Hoiberg, and his star player, Bryce McGowens. McGowen had 26 points to lead Nebraska.

If the Combine isn’t your cup of tea, never fear, because the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament is also tipping off this week…also in Indianapolis. It’ll be an exciting tournament featuring the most exciting player in college hoops, Caitlin Clark, who, unfortunately, doesn’t play for Ohio State.

  • I-70 Football Show: NFL Combine + College Basketball
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
In this episode we get sidetracked and start talking about the NFL and the likelihood that Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers gets traded. Is Jameis Winston the best free agent quarterback and what will happen with Deshaun Watson? After getting on track, we get into the NFL Combine and which Big Ten players will show out in the combine? We get into which wide receiver will have the best career. Can Aidan Hutchinson reach Bosa or Watt brother status? Plus, will Daniel Faalele be a bust?
In our first venture into Men's basketball, we update the current rankings in the Big Ten where Wisconsin is leading a close competition for the Big Ten regular season championship. Jordan wants to know why Illinois isn't historically in the conversation with Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas. Despite all the talent in Chicago they have never capitalized to raise their profile. A Big Ten school hasn't won the national championship since 2000, will that change in 2022? Dante doesn't think so.
In their weekly pit stops Jordan advocates for the benefits of multi-sport athletes. High school students should not specialize in a singular sport there are way more advantages to playing multiple sports and being a well-rounded athlete. Dante talks about Michigan hiring Denard Robinson to their staff and the benefits of hiring former players as brand ambassadors.

  • Buck Off Podcast: Recruiting big board, in- state recruiting outlook, and the CFP news
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to talk about Ohio State’s offseason and get into some major recruiting content.
We begin the show discussing the recruiting challenges Ohio State faces with new challengers in recruiting hot spots. We discuss the new coaches and how this makes the entire recruiting land scape more challenging for everyone, not just Ohio State.
After that, we go into an in-depth recruiting big board, we discuss our ten most important recruits in the 2023 class. We give some analysis on why we think the recruits important and a rise in Massachusetts blue chip prospects. Our big board has a focus on direct recruiting competition and building out the roster.
We then discuss the worst college football article ever written, and how some people who get paid for this need to find a new line of work. We discuss the potential power the Big Ten and other conferences have to gain if the playoff goes to the open market. We also get into how the Alliance has moved away from working together and are working in self-interest (surprise, surprise).
Our final discussion, we talk about Spring Football and our offseason hobbies to get to the other side.

  • LGHL Uncut: E.J. Liddell, Malaki Branham, Both Coaches Discuss Ohio State MBB’s OT Victory Over Indiana (02/22/22)
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions.
On this episode, E.J. Liddell, Malaki Branham, Chris Holtmann, and Mike Woodson discuss Ohio State’s most heart-stopping victory of the year, an 80-69 overtime win over Woodson’s Hoosiers. After leading by 11, Ohio State trailed by four points with a minute remaining before forcing overtime and ultimately winning in OT.
Branham discussed the huge play involving himself and Liddell at the end of regulation that ultimately sent the game to overtime. He also talked about his conditioning during his first season of college basketball. Liddell gave the home crowd credit for “giving them some juice” down the stretch.
Head coach Chris Holtmann called it a “gritty” win and acknowledged there were facets of this game that the Buckeyes simply did not do well — including rebounding. He talked about Branham’s transformation as a player, saying that his freshman star is “Not at all the same player he was against Seton Hall and Florida earlier this season.”

  • I-70 Football Show: "New Year's Six Tier"
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
In this episode Jordan and Dante break down the New Year’s Six tier. Michigan State had a great campaign and almost won the Big Ten, can they repeat next year, or will they take a step back? Ohio State had their down year so look out Big Ten. Will the Buckeyes buzzsaw through the conference in route to another playoff appearance? Michigan had their best season in decades but then at once began a drama filled off season. Can they bounce back, or will they once again be the Michigan team we've come to expect under Harbaugh?
Before their scheduled pit stops the guys get into Brain Flores getting hired by the Steelers as well as how it would feel to be a great and your kid does not play sports. Plus, which league treats their players the worst, the MLB, NBA, or NFL? In their weekly pit stop Jordan discusses the decision to wait on playoff expansion. We will have to wait until 2026 at the earliest for a 12-team playoff. Dante talks about the lackluster Dunk Contest. Should the NBA get rid of it altogether? or how can they make it more entertaining again?

  • Stick to Sports: Catching Up on OSU MBB & WBB for the Stretch Run, Explaining the Olympic Figure Skating Controversy (02/20/22)
Land-Grant Holy Land’s Stick to Sports is unlike any podcast you’ve heard on the Ohio State beat. Your hosts, Matt Tamanini and Jami Jurich, will (of course) talk Ohio State sports, but the primary focus of the show will be on what’s going on around the periphery, such as weird/funny happenings in college football and the sports world at large, as well as other things that keep us interested in between games, whether that’s pop culture, social media trends— you name it.
Over the past two weeks, Jami has been focused solely on the Winter Olympics in Beijing, so she has been neglecting all of the other things that she normally cares about, so Matt gives her a rundown of where things stand for both the Ohio State men's and women's basketball teams as they fight for postseason seedings and fleeting chances to secure Big Ten regular season titles.
Then, they turn the tables as Jami goes in-depth to explain the controversy over 15-year-old Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva positive drug test, the Olympic rulings that allowed her to compete, and the ripples it had throughout the sports world. Spoiler Alert: Jami and Matt both have very strong feelings about the IOC and Russia's handling of this entire fiasco.
Finally, the pair both recommend a foreign film nominated for multiple Academy Awards.

  • The Dotted Line: Breaking Down Luke Montgomery's Commitment, Film and What it Means for OSU's 2023 Class (02/19/22)
On “The Dotted Line”, Land-Grant Holy Land’s Matt Tamanini talks to recruiting experts, LGHL’s recruiting analysts, and prospects themselves to get a unique perspective on the players that will be a part of Ohio State’s future.
On this episode, Matt Tamanini is joined by LGHL recruiting columnist Caleb Houser to get into the Ohio State football Buckeyes' most recent commitment. Earlier this week the top-rated player in the state of Ohio, Findlay's Luke Montgomery pledged to play his college ball for Ohio State. The No. 49 player in the country, Montgomery is currently projected to play offensive tackle at the next level, and after breaking down his film, Caleb thinks that he'll be a great addition to the OSU offensive line.
Matt and Caleb then discuss what's next for the Buckeyes' 2023 recruiting class, how the new additions to Ryan Day's staff have been doing on the trail since being hired, and who could be the next BOOM! Matt also gives Caleb the floor to express the grief and despair that he is still feeling following his beloved Bengals' loss in the Super Bowl.
