  • Buck Off Podcast: Ohio State’s new home, TV money, and Luke Montgomery’s commitment
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to talk about Ohio State’s offseason and we discuss the Buckeyes playing indoors.
We begin the show with the huge recruiting BOOOM in 4-star OT Luke Montgomery of Findlay High School. Justin Frye showed immediate impact on the recruiting trail and we discuss the type of player Ohio State is getting in Montgomery.
After that, we discuss Gene Smith’s potential plan of having the Buckeyes playing their home playoff games in Lucas Oil Stadium. In a debate format that rivals the glory days of ESPN’s First Take, Chris and Jordan do not agree on the reasoning for moving the game to Indianapolis.
We then discuss how Gene Smith decimated the Alliance, and we get into why Alliance scheduling was never going to be beneficial for the Big Ten. Then we get into a discussion about the new potential media deals for the Buckeyes. We talk about the potential value the Big Ten brings to the table and why it will continue to be the most valuable media product in college football.
Our final discussion, we discuss players gaining weight, the incredible Marvin Harrison Jr., and why a coach at Ohio State can’t get a raise in a year he loses to Michigan.

  • Bucketheads: B1G Player of the Year Candidates OSU's E.J. Liddell, Iowa's Keegan Murray to Clash in Columbus on Saturday (02/17/22)
Land-Grant Holy Land’s newest podcast, ‘Bucketheads’ takes you on a journey across the college basketball landscape every episode. The only basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every Thursday morning throughout the regular season.
After a shockingly flat first half, No. 18 Ohio State (16-6, 9-4) rallied back to pummel Minnesota Tuesday night, 70-45. Connor and Justin compared this game to a high vs low-seeded NCAA Tournament game, and note that OSU’s defense has steadily improved since the Rutgers game.
We also discuss Austin Parks’ commitment and what it means for the Buckeyes’ frontcourt, as well as our general excitement for both the 2022 and 2023 classes. Ohio State may not be great next season, but damnit, they’re going to be a lot of fun to watch.
The episode is closed with a brief preview of this weekend’s showdown with Iowa, and we ponder why Keegan Murray isn’t getting more national attention for the fantastic season he’s having. The battle between those two is going to be must-watch TV (on FOX at 2:30 pm E.T., specifically).

  • Hangout in the Holy Land: Way-Too-Early Ohio State Defensive Depth Chart Predictions (02/16/22)
Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast ‘Hangout in the Holy Land’ is back! Join LGHL’s co-managing editor Gene Ross alongside his co-host Josh Dooley as they cover everything from football to basketball to recruiting and more!
After breaking down the offense on last week’s episode, this week the guys are taking a stab at projecting the depth chart on the defensive side of the ball. While the offense has a good number of clear starters in 2022, the defense has a ton more question marks, both because of personnel changes and the introduction of Jim Knowles’ defensive system. Obviously the Ohio State defense must play much better if the Buckeyes wish to make it back to the College Football Playoff, and as a result you will likely see a bunch of new faces out there this fall.

  • LGHL Uncut: Jamari Wheeler, Zed Key, both coaches discuss Ohio State’s 25-point victory over Minnesota (02/15/22)
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions.
On this episode, Zed Key, Jamari Wheeler, Ben Johnson, and Chris Holtmann discuss Ohio State’s come-from-behind 70-45 win over the Gophers at the Schottenstein Center Tuesday night. After trailing by two points at halftime, Ohio State overwhelmed Minnesota over the final 20 minutes, denying them their fourth conference win of the season.
Key and Wheeler discussed some of the changes that needed to be made to play a cleaner second half. Wheeler also talked about his mindset when teams back off of him and “dare” him to shoot threes, like Minnesota did tonight.
Head coach Chris Holtmann addressed Justin Ahrens’ reduced role on the team as the season progresses and his confidence in his team to pull away from opponents late. He described Ohio State’s pace as a “slow drip” that he knew would eventually lead to his team taking command of the game.

  • I-70 Football Show: "Upper Bowl Tier"
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
In this episode of the I-70 football show we discuss the "upper bowl tier", Iowa, Penn State and Wisconsin all had relatively successful seasons, but they weren't the cream of the crop in the Big Ten. Penn State struggled for a second season in a row but still reached bowl eligibility. Wisconsin started out slow with a 1-3 record then won seven straight games behind their future star running back, Iowa almost reached the mountain top as the No. 2 team in the nation but couldn't sustain ending the season at 10-2 before two straight losses have them at 10-4. Despite having the worst record of the three teams we're still higher on Penn State then Iowa or Wisconsin going into 2022.
In a slow Big Ten cycle we get into some NBA trade deadlines talk, discuss why no one cares about LeBron's new record and NBA superstar fatigue. In out weekly pit stops Jordan once again hates on the Pro Football Hall of Fame because they didn't select Reggie Wayne for the 2022 class. Dante celebrates T.J Watt finally getting NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

  • LGHL Uncut: Holtmann, Liddell, Russell Discuss Major Win over Michigan (02/13/22)
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions.
In this episode you will hear uncut press conference from Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann and players E.J. Liddell and Cedric Russell following the men's basketball Buckeyes' 68-57 win over the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday night. Liddell discussed how he turned an unusual number of 1-on-1 opportunities into a 28-point night, Russell discussed facing off against a familiar foe -- just in completely different environments -- and Holtmann pleaded with the media to start talking about Liddell as a legitimate candidate for the Big Ten's Player of the Year Award.

  • In Conversation: Checking on the Ohio State women's basketball team with Wyatt Crosher (02/12/22)
On Land-Grant Holy Land In Conversation, we talk to people in and around Ohio State athletics, and the sporting world at large, to bring you a different insight and perspective to the teams, athletes, and university that you love.
On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with the former associate editor of the Buckeye Sports Bulletin and the publisher of the Hoopla newsletter, Wyatt Crosher. Wyatt is still a regular co-host with our old friend Patrick Mayhorn on the BSB podcast, but he has moved away from covering Ohio State and college sports in general in the past year, but via his newsletter he still provides expert analysis of a variety of sports and pop culture topics, first and foremost Big Ten women’s basketball.
So, for those of us who are just remembering that OSU sponsors two whole varsity basketball teams, Wyatt is here to give us a quick crash course on all things Buckeye women’s basketball. Well, Buckeye women’s basketball and “Jackass Forever.”

  • Buck Off Podcast: Ohio State 2023 National Champs, Michigan’s new staff, and Super Bowl picks
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams for the fourth episode of Ohio State’s offseason and we discuss why ESPN thinks Ohio State will be national champions.
We begin the show by talking about the NFL MVP (recorded before the awards) and we discuss a former Buckeye foe. We then discuss the value of the MVP award and why it has become a postseason award as well.
After that, we discuss ESPN anointing Ohio State 2022 national championship with their Production Return Rate stats and the number one SP+ ranking. We talk about the last few leaders in these rankings and why Ohio State is poised for a huge year with all the weapons on the current roster.
We then discuss the finalized Michigan coaching staff and why lightning doesn’t always strike twice. The Wolverines hired a new defensive coordinator and we discuss the reasons this might not be the best move which relates closely to Ohio State. After the break we discuss the promotions from within in their program and why the Gattis impact is complicated.
Our final discussion, we talk about Luke Montgomery’s recruitment, and give our expert prediction. Then we get into our Super Bowl picks, talk the field turf challenge, and lastly tell you why the Spring game is awesome.

  • Hangout in the Holy Land: Way-Too-Early Ohio State Offensive Depth Chart Predictions (02/09/22)
Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast ‘Hangout in the Holy Land’ is back! Join LGHL’s co-managing editor Gene Ross alongside his co-host Josh Dooley as they cover everything from football to basketball to recruiting and more!
On this week’s episode, the guys begin part one of what will be a two-part series in breaking down what Ohio State’s depth chart will look like for the 2022 season, kicking things off with the starters on the offensive side of the ball. While guys like C.J. Stroud, TreVeyon Henderson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba can all be written in sharpie atop the depth chart at their respective positions, there are still many spots up for grabs after the Buckeyes lost a number of key pieces to the NFL Draft this offseason. Before they get into all that, however, they hit on a pending 2023 commitment and the latest injury update from Chris Holtmann.
