  • LGHL Uncut: Chris Holtmann Discusses Injuries, Struggles Down the Stretch, Previews B1G Tournament (03/09/22)
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions.
On Wednesday, March 9, Ohio State men's basketball coach Chris Holtmann met with the media to provide a preview of the upcoming Big Ten Basketball Tournament in Indianapolis. The Buckeyes will open their 2022 postseason by taking on the winner of Wednesday's matchup between No. 11 Penn State and No. 14 Minnesota.
Holtmann gave an update on his team's various injuries and Justice Sueing remains unavailable — as he has been for most of the season. Kyle Young will not play on Thursday, but there is still hope that he will return from his latest concussion at some point before the end of the year. Other Buckeyes who have been battling injuries — like Zed Key, Meechie Johnson Jr., and mothers — will be available to varying degrees for the B1G Tourney.
The head coach also discussed what he is hoping to see from his team in Indianapolis and whether or not a deep-run to build momentum or an early-ish exit to rest up would be better for the team.

On this week’s episode, the guys start things out by discussing the Ohio State men’s basketball team and the upcoming Big Ten Tournament. Things have not gone well for the Buckeyes lately, and the B1G tourney will not provide any sort of breather as we inch closer and closer to the NCAA Tournament. Things then transition to the football team, which began spring practice on Tuesday as we also got to hear from Ryan Day and Jim Knowles. The guys then close things out with a quick recap of Ohio State’s NFL Draft hopefuls’ performances from the Combine.

  • Play Like a Girl: Buckeye basketball recap, Coach K’s legacy, Lebron/MJ debate (03/08/22)
On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Meredith Hein welcomes in friends from around the LGHL, Ohio State, and sporting worlds to talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between.
Welcome back! The Ohio State men’s basketball team has been on a rollercoaster all season, and this past week was a perfect example of their ups and downs. This week, Megan and Jami break down what the Bucks are doing wrong, the keys to success in the postseason tournament and which of the six seniors they will both miss next year (hint: it’s the same one).
Additionally, the women’s basketball team is not to be forgotten, nor is women’s college basketball in general. Jami and Megan analyze their late season surge, along with the legacy that Coach K has left at Duke and college basketball as a whole. Plus, who can forget about the size of Pitt QB’s Kenny Pickett’s hands, which was discovered at the NFL Combine?

  • I-70 Football Show: Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
In this episode the guys acknowledge the superstar that is Caitlyn Clark better known as Caitlyn Curry. After leading Iowa to the Big Ten tournament championship can she lead Iowa to a national title? The Men's Big Ten tournament is set, and we discuss potential upsets. Will Nebraska beat Ohio State again? Is Illinois going to get upset? Purdue, while not the No. 1 seed is the best team in the Big Ten will they ultimately win the crown? We get into all that and more.
Jordan is frustrated with the WNBA and how little growth they've shown. Should the WNBA separate from the NBA or will that destroy the league? Plus, Jordan has a full proof way to expand the WNBA by a minimum of six teams, Dante hopes, maybe foolishly, that there is not another round of super teams in the NBA after the old heads finally retire. Stay tuned to hear our predictions of who will come out of the West, will it be the Suns or someone else?
In their weekly pitstop Jordan and Dante talk about podcasting and how it has become toxic. A certain subset of men chooses to sit around and talk about women instead of staying in their lane. Leave relationship podcasting to the professionals and let us regular podcaster enjoy talking about our passions.

  • LGHL Uncut: Liddell, Ahrens, Holtmann after Senior Day Loss to Michigan (03/06/22)
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions.
During this episode, we heard from the head coaches of both Ohio State and Michigan as well as select players following Michigan’s 75-69 victory over the Buckeyes on senior day in Columbus. The conversation on Michigan’s end mostly focused on adjustments they made following their loss to the Buckeyes last month in Ann Arbor.
The conversation for Ohio State consisted of more shrugs, “I’m not sures”, and saying that they simply “did not bring the necessary focus and effort” for today’s game. Ohio State shot 48% as a team, but turnovers and defensive rebounding kept the ball out of their hands for more time than they would have liked.
Phil Martelli complimented Ohio State's fans, saying that it was a “Very cool atmosphere” in the Schottenstein Center on Sunday. He gave credit to the entire Michigan coaching staff for the win, and noted that it took a detailed plan to prepare for “Chris Holtmann’s brilliant offensive mind.”
Holtmann pointed at himself after the loss, saying that a lack of effort, preparation, and hustle falls on him. He gave the Wolverines credit for knocking down some big shots, especially guys like Kobe Bufkin and DeVante’ Jones who typically are not lights-out shooters.

  • Buck Off Podcast: New Batman movie, NFL Draft Combine, and Ohio State basketball creating villains
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to talk about Ohio State’s offseason the guys watch sports and discuss some of the latest conversation topics surrounding the Buckeyes.
We begin the show discussing the new Batman film and discuss why we’re excited to see Robert Pattinson play the caped crusader. We then get into how they can build this world, DC superhero film flops, and why this one should be different. We haven’t seen it yet, so no spoilers.
After that, we get into the constant pain Ohio State basketball causes and has endured during the Holtmann era. We talk about the last two defeats and the Michigan State game as it happens. The positives of Holtmann still outweigh the negatives, but we tell you what he has to do in March to earn some faith back amongst the fair weather fans.
We then talk all things the NFL combine and discuss the Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson’s times live on the show. That leads to discussions about some other players and the rest of the Buckeyes in attendance. We also talk about the importance of the combine to draft evaluators.
Lastly, we discuss some fun topics including the teams we’d root for if not Ohio State, predict how Ohio State’s women’s basketball team will do in the B1G tourney, and why Lincoln Riley sucks (in a natural flowing conversation).

  • LGHL Uncut: Brunk, Liddell, Holtmann Speak Following Much-Needed Win Over Michigan State (03/03/22)
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions.
During this episode, we spoke to E.J. Liddell, Joey Brunk, Chris Holtmann, Gabe Brown, and Tom Izzo about Ohio State’s 80-69 victory over the reeling Spartans. Much of the conversation focused on Brunk who — unsurprisingly — was not part of Michigan State’s game preparation at all. Liddell ceded most speaking time to Brunk, who fielded questions from all of us as well as his teammate Zed Key, who crashed the press conference.
Tom Izzo said he was “angry” with his team and admitted that he did not want to double-team Brunk at any point because “He’s a guy who averages one point per game.” He also criticized Ohio State’s crowd for being weak, but gave them credit for “lifting” Brunk to a great game.
We also spoke to MSU senior Gabe Brown, who led the Spartans with 13 points. His answers were very short, showing his frustration. Brown said he “wants to win as badly as anyone” but that his team simply can’t defend right now. Sounds familiar!

  • Bucketheads: Talking through the Men's Basketball Disappointment, Previewing the Women's Basketball B1G Tourney (03/03/22)
Land-Grant Holy Land’s newest podcast, ‘Bucketheads’ takes you on a journey across the college basketball landscape every episode. The only basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every Thursday morning throughout the regular season.
During this episode, we talked to Land-Grant Holy Land’s Thomas Costello about the Ohio State women’s basketball team, which starts their Big Ten Tournament run tomorrow night. Thomas gave a solid summary of the team, why they’re projected as a 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament despite winning the Big Ten, and which role players have shined off the bench.
We also briefly discussed Ohio State’s unfathomable loss to Nebraska Tuesday night and what that does to their potential tournament seeding in next week’s men’s Big Ten Tournament. The Buckeyes will likely need to win both of their remaining games to reclaim a double-bye and the four-seed, which they have temporarily lost to Iowa.
We close the episode by speculating which teams would present challenges to Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament in a 5-12, 6-11, or 7-10 matchup.

They then briefly discuss this latest up-and-down stretch for the men’s team, defeating Indiana and upsetting Illinois but falling to Maryland. • Bucketheads EMERGENCY Podcast: Reacting to a Horrendous Men's Basketball Loss to Nebraska (03/02/22)
In a rare "Bucketheads" Emergency podcast ™, Connor gives his thoughts on Ohio State’s disastrous home loss to last-place Nebraska and what that means for their seeding in the Big Ten Tournament. He goes over the key injuries the Buckeyes dealt with Tuesday night, and why the issues that this team has on defense are unlikely to be corrected this season.
He also gripes about the Buckeyes messing up his hotel reservations and how this Ohio State team in particular is so volatile. We’ve seen them hang with elite teams already this season, but they have also sank to the low level of some inferior opponents and got just a bit too close to the fire. What does this unpredictability mean for the NCAA Tournament?
