On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to discuss Ohio State’s early signing period and the class the Buckeyes have put together so far.

We begin the show by talking about the successes in the 2022 class and we discuss the players we’re the most excited about joining the Buckeyes. We get into the coach recruiter rankings and reflect on the biggest misses in the class.

Moving forward, we get into a discussion about what we learned in our film studies for Jim Knowles. We discuss some of the position fits and the parts that make a Knowles defense special. We talk about the coverages and some of the wildest things we saw from Oklahoma State’s defense last year.

After that we get back into our recruiting discussion, and this time look at it from an NIL perspective. We tell you why NIL hasn’t changed recruiting, we discuss how it might change recruiting, and then we discuss why there should be no problems with money in college football.

Our final discussion gets into some of the smaller news and notes like Jim Knowles getting the lay of the land. We talk about a few players who are going to have big opportunities with the fresh start. Then we discuss our new Gator friend in transfer and former Buckeye quarterback Jack Miller.

Lastly, we close out the show with first thoughts of the Rose Bowl since the match up was announced.

We are now 11 days into Ohio State’s COVID-19-pause, but there is an end in sight (hopefully). After both the Kentucky and UT-Martin games were cancelled, Chris Holtmann said that he “expects to play on the 28th (against New Orleans). While that’s fine and good, we still have very little to talk about this week because of the shutdown.

So this week after discussing the timeline of OSU’s break and how we got here, the guys talked about Spiderman: No Way Home a bit — as they both went and saw it during opening weekend. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, it’s probably best you skip the final 20 minutes or so of this one. The plan is to resume your regularly scheduled programming next week.

On LGHL’s Play Like a Girl podcast, Megan and Meredith talk everything from Ohio State sports to advocacy for women in sports and all the happenings in between.

Welcome back! Well, COVID has reared its ugly head once again, and its impact has been felt throughout the sports world with NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA basketball games all being delayed or outright cancelled due to positive tests within organizations. Ohio State hoops was not immune, with the men’s games against Kentucky and UT Martin and the women’s matchup against UCLA being cancelled. 

However, the postponements in the NFL in particular mean we’ve got pro football for days on end leading up to Christmas, and this week has already been a special gift with a thriller between Baltimore and Green Bay Sunday afternoon.

And of course, we’ve got more and more Bowl games, cool moments with Tiger Woods and (finally?) an end to the Urban Meyer drama in Jacksonville.

We're not the only ones who received bad news as Urban Meyer got the boot in Jacksonville after a ridiculously short tenure. Sometimes being the head ball coach doesn't stop you from facing the consequences of your actions

The boys also get into the news about quarterback transfers and NIL ruining college football. We eventually get into the Big Ten as we preview the first four Big Ten bowl games, listen as we make our picks and decide on a friendly wager. Lastly we review the winner of our season long competition. While both of us did very well only one of us has to wear either a Clemson or Michigan T-Shirt.

In their weekly pit stops they both focus on the NFL as Dante celebrates the Steelers victory and staying in the playoff hunt while Jordan makes a case for Jonathon Taylor to win the MVP.

Welcome back! With bowl season nearly upon us, we’re rapidly approaching one of the most wonderful times of the year. The only downside is that we just had our last regular season college football game of 2021 with the annual Army vs. Navy game this past weekend.

But of course, there’s no shortage of off the field drama to discuss, and Megan and Meredith talked through some of the biggest headlines of the last week, including more coaching carousel moves, transfer portal decisions and, on the NFL side, Urban Meyer’s continued struggles to find his way as an NFL head coach in Jacksonville. 

But even without an abundance of football, there’s been plenty of excitement from the hardcourt, including a huge conference win for the Ohio State men’s basketball team over Wisconsin.

This season had to most parity we've seen in a long time, our pre-season picks were way wrong, and how much did super seniors affect the results. Will there be more parity next season or is Ohio State going to win it all again with a more experienced roster?

Ohio State and Penn State both make flashy defensive coordinator hires with Jim Knowles from Oklahoma State and Manny Diaz from Miami respectively. The boys get to live react to Quinn Ewers transferring to Texas and try to figure out where Adrian Martinez and Michael Penix Jr. play next season. Also, we send a major congrats to Aidan Hutchinson and C.J. Stroud for being Heisman Finalist.

In their weekly pit stops they take a moment to honor Demaryius Thomas who tragically passed away at 33 years old. We're sending thoughts and prayers out to his loved ones as they grieve the loss of an amazing human being.
