When was the last time you let curiosity drive your choices — and noticed it fundamentally change your perspective or path?

In this episode of Simple Reflections, I’m joined by Chad Littlefield, co-founder of We and Me, and co-author of Ask Powerful Questions. Chad is renowned for “hijacking” TEDx events, transforming passive audiences into active participants by inviting contribution and connection from the whole room.

We dive into how curiosity, not certainty, is the key that unlocks possibility — and how letting go of being absolutely sure can open up new avenues for learning, growth, and connection. 

We discuss the subtle — but game-changing — difference between doing connection and being connection, and how a shift in intent can transform the most basic human interactions. 

Chad also reflects on the impact of great questions, sharing stories of how a single question can “edit the future,” sparking real-world action. Looking ahead, he previews a new project: a deck of 60 questions designed to act as “edit buttons” for what comes next in life, helping people talk their way into tomorrow.

Do you ever wonder why you do what you do and how best to be of service to others?

In the latest episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast with my guest, Oli Mansfield, we explored the notion that of the clients we work with, we are our top client.

What does that even mean Dave? Great question… for me, it’s the idea that I, like everyone else is not a completely finished product: I am a perpetual work in progress.

As an idea it keeps me grounded and reminds me to stay open to seeing and experiencing new things, to learn, to be open to growth.

Oli is a Transformation and Performance Coach from Marlow in Buchinghamshire.  He has a broad variety of clients that he serves with a passion for exploring the interplay between psychology and physiology; two subjects he has a deep expertise in, coupled with the humility to lead with his “inner dumbass” – or looking to understand the person he is with rather than shoehorn them into a preconceived box.

Aila is a colleague and teacher of mine from Mississauga the idyllic Tahoe National Forest in California.  Aila is a professional coach who mainly works with teens and coaches looking to grow their businesses.

How often have you given yourself permission to notice moments in time?

This was something that came up in the latest episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast with my guest, Greg Fisher.

Greg is a good friend and colleague from Mississauga in Ontario, Canada.  Hi is a Coach, “Chief Potential Officer” and the author of a couple of books (details in the show notes).

During the episode my conversation with Greg ranges from adventures to forgiveness, from parenting to Star Wars and all wrapped up in a gratitude for the times we live in and the opportunities that allows us to create and share with others.

What we have both noticed as we’ve looked more deeply into how to serve our clients, is the capacity that lies in every singe moment.  We get to create in every moment.  In fact, that is all we do in every moment… but most of us don’t realise that’s the case.

Have you got lost in the details and lost sight of the direction you originally set off in?

That is something my latest guest, Vanessa Rubera, and I regularly see with our clients and is the topic of the latest episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast.

Vanessa isa good friend and mentor from Vermont in the USA.  She is a Clarity Coach and the author of “Conversations with a Camel”.

During the episode Vanessa and I touch on the power of coaching and that as coaches, our main ole is to hold space knowing that neither our clients or ourselves know the answer… the answer comes from us collectively slowing down and seeing what can be created from there.

We all have the capacity to set a direction that feels right and be comfortable in the not knowing of how we get there.  Unfortunately, what usually happens, we lose sight of the direction and become overly focused on the details.  As General Dwight D Eisenhower is famously quoted as saying: “Plans are worthless, but planning is everything.”

You are in for a treat!  In this episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast I am joined by my dear friend and colleague Dr Bill Pettit.

Bill turns 83 later this month but in the last 18 months or so he seems to have developed a second wind, and I wanted to ask him about it and his upcoming courses:

For those that don’t know Bill, he has been practicing Psychiatry for 53 years, the last 43 of which have been with an ever-deepening understanding of the Three Principles.  This arms him with a body of experience treating patients presenting symptoms from a cross the mental illness spectrum.

It’s this experience that we touch on in this conversation and that Bill will be diving into in much greater depth in his two courses.

As ever, this is an episode where I was learning as I went… something I will be forever grateful for and is a completely unexpected gift from hosting this podcast.

In this episode I’m, joined by ĐƠN GIẢN (pronounced Dunzan) an American coach living in Ho Chi Min City in Vietnam.  ĐƠN GIẢN changed his name from Dave Berman a few years ago because of ĐƠN GIẢN’s meaning in Vietnamese: Simple.  Like me ĐƠN GIẢN has a fascination with Simplicity: mine being the “Simple Reflections Podcast” and “Simplicity in Mind”; ĐƠN GIẢN’s not only being the name change but also his “Let it be Simple” community.

ĐƠN GIẢN and I met through both being hosts of the “Heartfelt Presence” platform (a free, 24 hour Zoom room. Hosted by coaches with a grounding in the Three Principles).  It was through getting to know ĐƠN GIẢN briefly there that I thought he’d be a great guest for the podcast, and I wasn’t wrong…

Our conversation ranged from the power that come from slowing down to the speed of now, to establishing connections through shared understanding and creating experiments, to the infinite world of ideas and possibilities that we are all a part of.

I had so much fun with Chris Dorris making this episode!  Chris is a highly sought after coach and speaker working with some seriously big organisations.  He is also a generous and fun loving guy.

My coach, Shazia Govindji [episode 32], recommended a book to me a couple of months ago – The Book of Mental Toughness Mantras – and Chris is the author.  I really enjoyed it and wanted to create posts about some of them – my usual mix of rough sketch by me and my thoughts about what it means to me.  Wanting to do the right thing, I got in touch with Chris to ask his permission and I thought I’d also chance my arm and invite him on the podcast.

This conversation is the result.  It’s testament to the power that human connection is always available; this was the first time we’d met but it felt like we’d known each other for ever.

We touched on a number of topics from Chris’ starting point, to working in elite sports, to his insatiable desire to serve others and continually grow as a human being
