How you answer this?
"Like how do I not love myself? Because I'm in a relationship where I’m unhappy? That automatically defines me as not loving myself? Why do people say that? I feel like I'm down to do anything. You wanna go across the country? Let’s go, you wanna go to the casino at 3a? I’m down. Help me understand?"

James is back! He's married and I always loved talking with him about relationship and marriage.
----
I know what I went through and I share my story as well as the stories of my clients. 𝗪𝐡𝐲? So you see you’re not alone.
𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲? This was just a strategy call.
𝐌𝐞: 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬?
Her: No. My parents never really talked with me about that sort of thing. Honestly, I think I learned most of what I learned about relationships from television.
And I realized later that I was really young and they were... all the characters in the shows were like in high school.
So they were all like dating and having relationships. And I couldn't wait to be 16 and have a boyfriend.
I can't remember a time, like since I was six years old, where I didn't have a crush on somebody or wasn't thinking about boys.
Being single is difficult for me because I have to think about things other than a relationship.
The thing that I most wanted in life was always a relationship. That was the number one thing for me ...that completed my life.
𝐌𝐞: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞.
How you want to show up in this world. I want you to do that before you decide to invite a man into your life again.
He's not going to complete you or bring clarity to your life.
When we don't know who we are and we get into a relationships… we get wrapped up in the guy.
Which obviously didn't work out well for you... I bet when he'd leave you, you felt like..
"Okay, well what do I do now?"
Her: Yea
𝐌𝐞: 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲. Then Single You is for you...
I help women discover their worth. So that you can stop tying your identity to men and stop being a people pleaser.

Learn from her story! One of the things that helped me heal from the pain I inflicted on myself by being with my abusive ex, was finding and learning from women who had been through what I went through. I loved feeling like I wasn't the only woman who made 'stupid' decisions for a man. I also was able to learn from those women.
I hope you learn from Jackii's story!

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?
Reka I’ve been meaning to ask you but in my time of confusion I want to move forward. but my actions are showing me— I just want to stay stuck.
You’ve answered the question so many times however I still can’t seem to understand it. I know what I am but why can’t I believe it?
I know I am beautiful inside and out, I am kind, outstanding, funny, loving, wise. I fell in love with a toxic person.
However I know my worth and value but it seems like I don’t because I let this guy miss-treat me?
After 10months with him — I am tired of the emotional abuse.
Me: So you said... "I’m tired of emotional abuse” — so I would assume you no longer want that relationship or in any relationship ..true?
Her: Exactly but I’m stuck
Ok listen... to this podcast!

The Fall Out of Those Entanglements. That time I talked about Will & Jada and cheating with James. James was my co-host at the time on Power 99.1. While I no longer do the morning show on Power 99.1 -- I kept all my juicy audio.

𝙄 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙎𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙅𝙖𝙙𝙖 but this whole “entanglement” thing has got me thinking about YOU. How even Beyonce and Jay Z are normalizing that cheating is just the price of admission to a marriage.
I remember when I posted my first blog back in early 2018. I did it the midst of full shame of what I allowed a man to put me through but I knew that my story would be healing for me AND other women.
I didn’t know then I would create Single You but 𝙄 𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣, 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝. I knew that sharing my story and pushing aside shame, was the formula.
“𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙖𝙙𝙢𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨” - 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙑𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝
Cut to 2020 and I’ve helped MORE than just one woman...
I have a story I want to share with you about one for my clients. Let’s see if YOU can relate to one of my clients. I continue to share knowing if you see you in me and/or my clients, then you will..,
1. Feel less alone 2. Know I can help YOU
Me: So why Single You? Why do you want to work on yourself now?
Her: I date the same type of men because, like you said before, it's like I'm happy that they chose me. So it's like, 'Oh, you chose me. Okay, I'm going to sacrifice what I know I don't want to sacrifice just because you chose me.
𝙄 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙜𝙪𝙮𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙄'𝙢 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙝. 𝙄'𝙢 𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙩.
Can you relate to that story? Is that you.
Cut to July 2020
Her: Reka, I've been slowly catching up with the videos, the curriculum, and I'm halfway through relational intelligence. I'm using your info in my daily life.
I dated another guy just recently, but I realized his behavior and continued to entertain him for a bit. However, 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙧. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥, 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙖𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙧. Joining Single You, joining your group was one of the best investments I made in 2020.

#AskReka How did you concluded that your relationship was abusive? I think it's a word women struggle with because we're programmed to think abuse is JUST physical abuse.
Do you listen to my podcast and you think "I need more. I wish I had steps".... that's exactly what "Single You" is.
What is “Single You”?

Dude they made me cry!! Getting “flowers” for the gift my Grandmothers, parents and God gave me weird. I’m supposed to be doing this but I really really really do appreciate the love— especially the day (doing mornings) before my last day on Power 99.1
I’ll have a letter for the Tri Cities that I’ll read on air tomorrow at 7a (September 10, 2020)
