Today, we're bringing back our episode on one of the most consequential cases of stalking ever. The impact of the stalking of Peggy Klinke reverberated throughout the country and helped bring about important changes to laws that protect stalking victims.

We're also covering the wild case of stalking that Miley Cyrus experienced, which needs to be heard to be believed

A prominent local political figure here in Las Vegas was stalked by a Metro Police Officer in 2023, and we share another missing person case from LVMPD's missing cold case list at https://sinspod.co/metromissing

This case highlights how the abuse of power can add to the terror experienced by a stalking victim, even someone well-known and in the public eye. It happens to people in all walks of life.

This week, we're bringing you the stories of 5 people who are missing from their families at the holidays. As we gather around the table for whatever holiday we celebrate, it's important to keep the families in mind who have an empty seat at the table, and a hole in their lives.

Mason Robertson, Derrick "Tank" Evans, Brenda Gail Lambert, and Iesha Johnson'sfamilies all deserve closure. If you can help provide that closure for any of them or have any information that can help, we urge you to.

We'll share their photos on our social media, and you can listen to their stories here.

Thank you so much for listening, subscribing, and sharing. We wish you a truly happy holiday season, and remind you what happens here, happens everywhere

Update January 29th 2025 - Lauren Steele has been found SAFE! We'll provide an update in episode 111 on this. We're thrilled to learn this!!!

'Tis the season for true crime chaos! Hosts Kristen Seavey from Murder, She Told, Javier Leiva from PRETEND, and Shaun from Sins & Survivors join forces to explore Christmas crimes gone horribly wrong.

From a bath salts-fueled home decorator in suburban Ohio to a serial burglar stealing Robert De Niro's wrapped presents right from under his tree, these real-life Grinches prove that the holidays bring out the worst in some people. The hosts also dive into the disturbing case of postal workers who intercepted letters to Santa meant for underprivileged children...stealing laptops, iPads, and gift cards intended for kids in need.

But the main event is a fresh-off-the-press case from Bangor, Maine. When a couple woke up to find a stranger sleeping on their couch, surrounded by their unwrapped Christmas presents. Police body cam footage reveals just how terrifying this "funny" story really was.

This week, after talking to Brittney Lavoll's son, we're sharing her case again. We were so moved by how well he's doing and the network of support that he and his brothers have had after the tragic loss of their mother.

------

A young mother of three, Brittney Lavoll, did everything right to escape her abuser—but it wasn’t enough. Her tragic murder sparks urgent questions about domestic violence and gun laws. Plus, the mysterious disappearance of Courtney Lynn Townsend raises troubling questions, as her burned-out car and partial remains leave her family searching for answers.

In a 24-hour city like Las Vegas, early morning means many workers are getting their days started while others are clocking out and heading home at the end of a long shift. In the pre-dawn hours of March 25, 2010, a scream broke the silence.

Lee and Wade turned their heads toward the Jack in the Box restaurant across the street. Moments later they heard a gunshot and saw a woman collapse in the parking lot.

They ran to help, but it was too late. A young mother of three—who had done everything right to escape her abuser—had just been murdered. And the man who killed her? He should never have had a gun.

Megan Ruiz and Jimmy Ramirez had a rocky relationship, which eventually erupted in violence. We hear about these cases often, but the sentencing in this one is an outrage.

On July 3rd, 2024, two gunshots rang out inside the Crosswinds Apartments in central Las Vegas. Metro Officers responded and were told a story about a woman in the middle of a “manic episode,” a woman who had supposedly attacked her boyfriend with a fork. But—as we’ve seen in so many cases—that version of events was not even close to the whole story.

What really happened involved a long pattern of domestic violence calls to that same apartment, and once detectives started untangling Jimmy Ramirez’s account of what happened, almost every piece of it started falling apart.
