July 07, 2021 [Ep. 21 History] Never Choose A Man Over Your Pokemon & A Spicy Mask
Welcome to another episode!
Specifically: Welcome to our first "Sip N Spin In The Morning" because we had to record this episode very early because of other scheduling plans. If the vibes seem a little off this week, that very well could be why. Neither Brittany nor Skylar are morning people. We were champs though, we had our iced dirty chai's, friendship bread, and a bottle of vodka. All the makings for our "Yt Girl Sunday" and the perfect formula to discuss some history with you. Skylar got to choose the drink this week so we are sipping on a couple of blackberry-basil moscow-mules.
Brittany gets a little nostalgic this week and talks about a very tiny portion of the history of Pokemon. Specifically, she touches a little bit on how Pokemon came to be a thing, the first few rounds of merch/games/general content that came with the early success of the franchise, as well as some light childhood trauma.
Skylar, it could be argued, gets even more nostalgic and takes us way back to discuss a mystery from French history. She talks about the story of The Man in the Iron Mask. They were an unidentified prisoner who was arrested in 1669 or 1670 and held in a number of French prisons, including the Bastille. This case still remains a mystery, and we never will know for sure, but it's still fun to discuss and talk about the different theories.

Welcome to another episode!
This week we are discussing a new topic! Our wheel landed on TV and so today we are here to talk about some facts and history regarding "TV". Our drink for this week was white wine. Skylar chose the Bota Box Breeze: Pinot Grigio (mainly because the box was pretty).
In a twist of events, Skylar is going first with her topic this week. She is talking a bit about the origins of TV and mainly 50s television, aka the: Golden Age of television.
Brittany is going to turn the wholesome beginnings vibe on it's head a bit and break down the categories of Reality TV and touch a little bit on why exactly it is that we can't help but to watch "trash tv"? (Skylar clearly doesn't like not going first, because she is constantly interrupting Brittany's segment, but we love her for it anyway)
Since this was our first time covering tv and we can't really cover history of it again, let us know what we should do next time! Should we watch something together and discuss? Discuss a character specifically? Each cover a different show? Let us know!

Welcome to another episode!
This week we are happily discussing Music again! The drink theme was 'a drink we like' (again!) so that was another plus for this week. Brittany is enjoying a bottle of Kung-Fu Girl White Wine and Skylar is sipping on some Peach flavored vodka seltzers.
Brittany fangirls over British indie rock band: Florence + The Machine. They are a lovely group of people, and the lead singer, Florence Welch, is a beautiful human inside and out. As well as just being an all around badass. You can't help but love them.
Skylar goes into hardcore simp mode over K-Pop group: Pentagon. They are with Cube Entertainment, and originally consisted of 10 members, but it is now 9. She will discuss their music career as a whole, as well as give you some info on each individual member. If you needed a nice intro to the K-Pop world here is a good start!

Please note, this episode is a little chaotic and goes off the rails towards the end. It's also a little shorter than our normal episodes, because Brittany dropped the ball a little bit and doesn't actually have a segment for this week's episode. These things happen though, and so it's okay! If you think she should do a make up segment of the subject though, definitely let us know!
We are sipping on some 'Jam Jar' red wine while Skylar tells Brittany all about the Greek philosopher Diogenes, aka: Diogenes the cynic. He was one of the founders of Cynic philosophy and lived quite an interesting life. From living in jars & plucking chickens, to whipping it out at the market, listen to learn all about this hippie-like man.

Welcome to another episode!
Get out your notebooks and get ready for some learning! Today we are going to try to teach you a few things. We are going to be doing this while enjoying some heavily-poured glasses of Red Wine. The Bota Box: Cabernet Sauvignon specifically. (Yes, it's boxed wine, but you know what..still tasty and worthy to be featured in a classy 'culture' segment)
**It's no surprise anymore, but just putting it here anyway: Mochi causes trouble again this episode..sorry**
Brittany is going to discuss some facts, travel destinations, and touch lightly on some culture involved with said places, in and directly around Beijing. Skylar will pop in here and there to offer some assistance on some pronunciations as well. Beijing is obviously a very culture-rich and beautiful place, and Brittany simply could not cover everything there is to experience, see, do or go in to all traditions and so on. If you are interested to learn more we highly suggest you look into this lovely place, and if you are able, we hope maybe you can even travel there yourself someday!
Skylar is going to touch on some basics with teaching us all Mandarin. She will cover some generic terms, grammar, vocabulary, familial terms, numbers, etc. Skylar would like to remind everyone that she is by no means an expert or an official teacher. She is simply someone who loves to learn, loves to share her passions, and loves languages. She is completely self-taught, and she is constantly trying to better learn herself in all areas, this, of course, includes the Mandarin language.

As we are both just trying this episode to teach ourselves more about the world, and hopefully you as well, we are completely open and willing to learning more on the subject, or if there are any corrections anyone might have to share with us.

Much like last time, this was recorded after a previous recording, so there's no specific topic or drink. It's mainly just a way for Skylar to simp and discuss an obsession she is currently experiencing. Because you know what? It's fun to be excited about things, but you don't always have a way to express yourself and vent out all of your word vomit on it. This week we are sorry to you, dear listeners, but mostly to ourselves, because we are once AGAIN talking about true crime. We both had a pretty not-great week beforehand, and then we had to talk about a less than enjoyable topic, so if we don't seem as chipper this week, please don't think anything too deep about it. It was just one of those weeks, we'll be better next week. :) The drink theme was 'Brittany's Choice' so she chose to go a little light this week with a Ciderboy's apple cider. The Peach County specifically, because we are some peach-loving basic-bitches.

Brittany is discussing the tragic case of murderer Marcus Wesson who was charged with 9 counts of first degree murder and 14 count of molestation and rape in 2004. This case is very upsetting and has some serious trigger warnings including, but not limited to: murder, rape, molestation, incest, religion trauma, and cult topics.

This week we are very happy we get to talk about music! We are both really big fans of music in all forms so this was an episode we were both really excited about recording. The drink theme was 'a drink we like' so we both went in a lighter-seltzer direction. Brittany is enjoying some mango white claws, while Skylar decided to try a variety pack of the white claw-tea combos.
Brittany is discussing the lovely American indie electronic duo: Matt and Kim. They are one of her favorite groups of all time.. You literally cannot be sad while listening to them, or while watching a music video. They are pure serotonin and joy.
Skylar is discussing, and simping (shocker) over, the Welsh indie rock band: Catfish and the Bottlemen. This is her all time favorite band, you will discover just *how* much she loves them. Even though she might play favorites, it's clear that the band as a whole is a special treat and their music is quite a bop, and very much has that classic *indie rock band* charm.

Welcome to another episode!

This week we are talking about a very special book, because our topic is literature! Brittany was in charge of the drinks this week and, feeling inspired from the book, she came up with a special cocktail just for the occasion. They are enjoying: 'Summer's in Phthia' (which is a name Brittany came up with right this second). To make this refreshing drink: mix together a bottle of mead, half of a bottle of rose, and muddled strawberries. Let infuse together in the fridge for a few hours. Then serve with frozen strawberries and top with peach sparking water. Enjoy!

The book we are discussing in this weeks episode is the very popular book: 'The Song of Achilles' by Madeline Miller. This book is a retelling of Homer's 'The Iliad' and it focuses more on telling the story of the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus. It's a book of gods, kings, adventure, pain, and mostly, love. We were really into this week's topic, therefore, this is our longest episode to date!
Honestly, we pretty much go through this book from cover to cover. So BIG spoiler warning, but it's honestly such a great book, we would love it if you listened to us gush about our pain, ha!
