We’re back and kicking off a month of scary movies by covering one of our favorite Hollywood characters, the scream queen. Lindsay covers Jamie Lee Curtis’ iconic performance in Halloween that started her career, Mollie talks about how Shelley Duvall was tortured on and off screen in The Shining, and we both discuss the one and only original scream queen, Janet Leigh.
Sure, most movies don’t need to be remade, but what’s the harm in trying? Usually a lot, but luckily not always. This week Mollie talks about her love for the Oscar winning high school English class favorite, Romeo and Juliet, and it’s predecessor Baz Lurmann’s version. Then Lindsay digs into the massively controversial Ghostbusters remake.
Is there anything more rewarding than watching an actor you love get a second shot? No, there is not. In this week's episode Lindsay talks about the epically weird movie Birdman that brought Michael Keaton back to the big screen, Mollie dissects Robert Downey Jr.'s controversial role in Tropic Thunder that somehow got him an Oscar nomination, and we both stand in awe of Drew Barrymore's ability to transform her career in less than 15 minutes of screen time in the classic slasher movie Scream.
Down, Set, Action! To celebrate the start of a new fooseball season, we’re covering three iconic football movies. Lindsay is very impressed with young Burt Reynolds, Mollie brings the comedy with The Waterboy, and we both talk up the Disney/Denzel mash-up classic Remember The Titans.
Fierce, Fabulous and Fun! This week we break down drag queen movies. Mollie shares her disappointment in The Birdcage, Lindsay questions why Lola isn't the main character in Kinky Books, and we both gush endlessly about To Wong Fu, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newar.
Don’t you just love a movie that’s so bad it’s good? This week, we talk about all of the terrible ingredients that come together to make gems like Point Break, Mortal Kombat, and the infamous Showgirls. Looks like the 90’s has this genre covered.
Aliens are here and it turns out some of them are nice. We talk about the alien "prawns" from District 9, why E.T. is your friendly neighborhood alien, and how you've not lived until you've seen Arrival. The truth is out there and we can't shut up about it.
For our debut episode, we figured the theme of "Sisters" was appropriate. We dig deep into FOUR movies this episode: Practical Magic, A League of Their Own, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Rachel Getting Married. We talk about crappy sisters, really sweet sisters, and why there are basically no movies about sisters pre-90s.
